5 Star for Incompetence otherwise 2 Star facility

Note TripAdvisor 2.0/5

jljf2017 En famille - Avis TripAdvisor

Used to love this place, friendly staff, great food, clean rooms, comfy beds, good facilities. Now it feels like they couldn’t care less & just want your money. Some seriously miserable staff that don’t even say hello let alone smile. Reception mgr & staff look the other way when you pass them. Restaurant menu is a grubby, sticky plastic thing that’s boring, overpriced, under delivers & doesn’t have a soup available in the middle of winter? Evening meal took 48 minutes with only 15 customers to bring 2 burgers & a pork chop, they forgot to put truffle oil in the mash? Breakfast variety has been reduced but not the price. Tables are so close you can engage in each others conversations & stir each others coffee, speaking of which if you want a half decent coffee & not what’s on offer from a filthy machine, then you have to pay extra? We booked our usual room (5) & was confirmed all ours, checked in & given keys to room 10? Told them we’re in 5, they told us someone just checked in to that room. They gave us keys to room 15 before offering us a double story cottage at an extra $230. Wanted me to pay for their mess. Because I was having surgery I booked a next door room for an overnight nurse. Said they had no booking for room 3 after it was confirmed. Said can have room 16 next to the room we took, when the nurse arrived they gave her keys to room 18. The incompetence was astounding. They were also advised that the hospital would be paying for the nurses room but they charged my card anyway. The night before surgery I asked reception to book me a taxi for 9:30am, at 9am thought I would check, told there was no booking? Under the beds were filthy & the skirting boards had thick visible dirt/dust that’s not been cleaned for months. The fridge was a camp fridge. I needed ice packs after surgery & needed to keep going to reception to get the packs frozen, they wouldn’t even bring them to the room for us. In the end we got ice from a waitress in the restaurant who put the ice inside disposable gloves because they didn’t have anything else? The internal doors make such a racket when opening/closing they wake you from sleep if the lumpy mattress hasn’t already stopped you from sleeping. Seriously the whole pathetic saga reminded me of faulty towers. I would go as far to say it will not change until management down get some serious training & Accor lift their game or drop their prices. I’m in town next week but NOT staying there, it’s a joke.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We deeply regret that your recent stay did not meet your expectations and that you encountered several issues during your visit. We strive to provide exceptional service, and it is disappointing to hear that we fell short in your experience. Upon reviewing your reservation, we found that room #15 was indeed requested in your email, which was allocated to you at check-in. We apologize for any confusion regarding the room allocation, and we regret that there was a miscommunication about room #16, as we couldn't find any records of guaranteeing it for you. As for the billing issue, our records indicate that the nurse advised us to charge your credit card at check-in, and unfortunately, we did not receive authorization from the hospital to bill them directly. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Regarding your concerns about the taxi booking, we can confirm that the request was indeed made with Ballarat Taxi Service, and we regret any confusion that may have arisen. Concerning the ice packs, we acknowledge that we did not have the standard ice packs available at the time, so we provided ice in gloves wrapped in towels to absorb water and for that your accompanying guests found our assistance helpful. Your comments about the cleanliness of the room, the restaurant experience, and the overall service are being taken very seriously. We are addressing these issues with our team to ensure improvements are made. We understand your disappointment and hope to have the opportunity to restore your faith in our services in the future.

Lovely short stopover

Room was a standard hotel room - nothing flash (a very soft bed which was not to my liking). Room was quiet but we were at the back of the hotel. It was a lovely stroll to the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Dinner was lovely but a little expensive. The dinner service only waitress did such a superb job attending to everyone cheerfully and with ease that we had to single her out to the manager for doing such a great job with a near full restaurant - well done! A few more fairy lights on the path to the reception area would be lovely.

Thank you for sharing your feedback following your recent stay at Mercure Ballarat Hotel and Convention Centre. We appreciate your comments and are pleased to hear about your positive experiences. We apologize if the standard room did not fully meet your expectations. We value your feedback and will consider ways to enhance our room offerings. It’s delightful to know that you enjoyed the quiet ambiance and the convenient stroll to our restaurant for meals. Regarding dinner, we appreciate your kind words about our restaurant staff member. We will certainly recognize her outstanding service. Your suggestion about additional lights on the path to the reception area is noted, and we’ll explore ways to create an even more enchanting atmosphere. Thank you for choosing Mercure Ballarat, and we look forward to welcoming you back for another pleasant stay.

Martineantoinette En couple - Avis TripAdvisor
