Receptionist is super nice and helpful, but the one who assisted us with our luggage looks so grumpy and was frowning all the time. I know customer service in Australia is usually so-so, but she seems outright hostile and she clearly shows she is not happy with what she is doing. This is a luxury hotel so service should be so much better than others. However, you can find better service in cheaper hotels elsewhere. If you're not happy with your job, don't show it to the guests... The room is decent though, but the lounge bed has some stain marks. Bed is super comfortable though and lovin' the bathroom as well (though it's a bit crowded)... The view is great... Specifically chose a luxury room so we'll have bigger space and better views as we are celebrating Christmas here... Soooo glad we did! Pool is okay and heated but too crowded...

The room was great and the staff at the executive floor very friendly and helpful We had Christmas lunch at the restaurant and there was plenty, plenty plenty of food as well as endless drink. The waiters were always there with great service. We met the F&B manager, who was very helpful and friendly a great ambassador for Sofitel.

Excellent in all facets. The service from all we encountered was exemplary. We are just sorry we did not get names of the staff to give them a mention. Our room/suite was very comfortable and the breakfast spread was first rate with all options available.

After only 9 months, our return visit left us wondering if this really was the same place. At great expense, we booked 2 rooms plus club access and valet parking. Upon arrival, we sat in our car, waiting for a valet to appear. After several minutes we realised that we would have to attend to our owm bags and moved everything inside. At check-in, I was told that they would now take care of the car for me!!! At no time during our stay did we see a valet outside - it appeared that it was now an "indoor" valet operation and everyone was unloading their own bags and bringing them into the lobby. Arriving in our room I expected our arrival drink that a silver Accor member normally receives but alas, like the valet service, that was non-existent. Shortly after check-in we went to the club and expecting the same service from 9 months ago, we were shocked to discover that everything was SO different. The presentation, food and level of service had gone down the drain and we were left wondering why anyone would actually pay for this. Of course, each ROOM is charged the same amount, regardless of the number of guests so that made things even more frustrating when 1 room had only 1 guest and tet paid the same price as for 2 guests! It would also be a good idea to have a price for those who don't partake of alcohol as our money is also subsidising all the drinkers! We went back to the club for evening canapes and then breakfast and afternoon both days and confirmed that the present level of "service" was now the new "norm". A terrible disappointment and now the Sofitel is no better than other local hotels and their meagre offerings of club facilities - long gone are the wonderful high tea afternoons and breakfast spreads and we will also now be "long gone"! The issue with the rooms was also ridiculous - both rooms had no light working above the dining/work table. After making 4 separate calls about the chandeliers in our 2 rooms, I got the story that they were waiting for the arrival of parts from China. Several hours after, I received a call from a manager who apologised and then gave me yet another version of the story - this time - the parts were already on site but the electrician wasn't working until the following day! You have lost us as guests as we can get better value for money and the same "service" levels even at the InterContinental. Adieu!
