Visited for a long weekend. Rooms clean well Looked after with everything we needed. Breakfast a spectacular feast. And beyond this the bar at night was lively fun and everyone was having a greattime. Food good. DJ playing tunes everyone up for dancing and fun. Staff looked after us. Very happy. Thank you.

Unfair change to cancellation policy & unresolved charge

I had a very disappointing experience with Mama Shelter Paris East due to an unfair change to my booking’s cancellation policy. On 10/29, I booked a room for 11/22–11/30. At the time of booking, the reservation was fully refundable, as clearly stated in the confirmation. On 11/1, I briefly modified the booking to 11/23–11/30. The booking remained fully refundable. Later that same day, I changed the booking back to the original dates (11/22–11/30). During this modification, the hotel unilaterally changed the cancellation policy to a more restrictive, non-refundable policy, without any clear or prominent notice at the time of the change. I made my booking decisions in reliance on the original fully refundable cancellation terms. Changing the cancellation policy mid-booking, without clear disclosure, is not acceptable. I contacted the hotel more than 10 days before check-in to cancel. Only then was I informed of the new cancellation policy. This is particularly concerning because the hotel’s own website still indicated that bookings were cancellable up to one day before check-in. Despite this, the hotel charged me €1,085.03, and the issue remains unresolved. This experience reflects unfair and non-transparent market practices, and I would strongly caution other guests to carefully monitor any booking changes and cancellation terms.

You requested a date change despite the reservation being non-modifiable. Unfortunately, we were fully booked for the alternative dates proposed. As we did not receive any further response from you, the payment was processed in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions. Booked Mama Shelter based on reviews and the fact it was good value. The hotel is great - very modern, very hip and a great vibe. The rooms are simple but comfy and clean and who doesn’t want a stormtrooper mask on their headboard. The staff however are fantastic. Probably the nicest staff I’ve ever come across - super helpful, kind and friendly. Hotel is slightly out of the way but easily accessible via metro and/or bus. It was nice staying in a non touristy neighbourhood. Highly recommend.

Great hotel - beautifully designed and lit. Rooms big for Paris. We had dinner on the first night at the restaurant/bar. Lovely food and a DJ playing classics at just the right volume. The thing that is really special about the hotel though is the cool, laidback atmosphere and the engaging, friendly, intelligent, funny staff. Would def stay again.
