Pullman - a good spacious hotel in Miri

Large spacious hotel with a great view of the river and the sea - if you have a room that is facing that side. I got a room that faced another tall building and had to have my curtains drawn the whole day and night. Food is good but breakfast was chaotic with the fruits running out on both morning breakfasts that I was staying. It is still the best hotel in Miri - although that is not saying a great deal. I did feel it was not up to the standard of the other Pullman hotels that I have been in - in Petaling Jaya, West Malaysia; Shanghai (I have stayed there several times - very very good hotel and not too expensive even!).

Budget hotel with a luxury tag

We arrived at the Pullman Miri late in the evening, we were greeted by the concierge with smiles and a nice cool lobby. We had a fantastic barista who served us wonderfully the next morning. That’s about it, the front office staff were not friendly and barely had any communication skills. Our room was dated, floors were sticky, there was rust and black mould all over the shower and bathtub sealant, the sink took so long to drain, in the daytime, we saw stains on the bedding. When it came to amenities, we were provided with the bare minimum, it was not luxurious like other Pullman’s. It was like a budget hotel under the guise of a luxury hotel. The electricity was out for the whole day and night, even though they had generators, the AC wasn’t running and it was HOT. About 26C in our room after they brought up a cooler which (bizarrely) only served to increase the temperature of the room further. The buffet was atrocious, Brian Chong, if you’re reading this, the breakfast is awful, you literally come from the Shangri-la, do better. Please work on the gross array of tasteless dishes that are being presented to guests. The baked goods tasted like windex! The croissants were ok, the laksa was palatable, the nasi lemak sambal was imbalanced and not good at all. They served weird lunchtime dishes for breakfast as well. The coffee machine didn’t work either, noone cleared our table or other tables that were dirty. It was just a sad experience that is an obtuse waste of money. Honestly, we couldn’t wait to leave, we weren’t offered a discount or an apology for such a terrible experience. They merely put a sign up at the front desk about the power outage and apologised for the inconvenience. Not good enough, we paid in full, for an uncomfortable and disappointing stay.

We will review the menu, food quality, and service standards with our culinary and service teams to ensure that improvements are implemented promptly. A spacious, nice, and comfy hotel located near the waterfront where you can take some great touristy photos and just about 15 minutes from the airport~ has a nice sunrise view from the room and the grand old lady can also be spotted from the room!

Pullman Miri left me with exceptionally positive impressions. The hotel offered a high level of service both in the Executive Lounge and from the entire staff. I felt like a true guest in the best sense of the word. I am confident that when I return here, I will be welcomed like a long-lost friend, ready for new pleasant encounters. The Executive Lounge is an excellent place for both work and socializing. There are indeed many comfortable workspaces that create a productive atmosphere and facilitate interaction with other guests. I especially want to highlight the friendly attitude of the staff, which was evident in the most unexpected moments. This amazing combination of Malaysian hospitality and professionalism creates a unique atmosphere. This is my second visit to Sarawak, and I am once again pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome I received. The service is unobtrusive, yet the staff is always nearby, ready to assist in any situation. This approach truly makes the stay comfortable. The level of service and attention to detail at Pullman Miri is truly impressive, and I can confidently recommend this hotel for a pleasant stay.

The hotel is modern and well located. Some facilities were not available such as Chambers and the executive suite. Service was good. Sapuan in the lounge and Danny Melkai in the bar provided good, friendly service. The buffet mid week was either not open or limited so the a la carte wzasa better option.
