Enjoyable but brief stay, catering is excellent

Dawn A TripAdvisor review

We had a two night stay included as part of an Outback Spirit tour. The hotel is located in the Ayers Rock Resort that includes other hotels, apartments and a camping area. The room was spacious with 2 beds, desk and chair, safe, tea/coffee making facilities and a balcony with chairs and a table. The bathroom had a shower but no bath and amenities such as a shower cap, cotton pads and buds. We didn't have a lot of free time to enjoy the amenities such as the pool but it looked attractive. We had breakfast included and were impressed with the buffet selection. We also had a buffet dinner included as part of the tour and were very satisfied with the selection and quality of food available. The hotel is spread over an extensive area and it is helpful to find the shortest route to reception after you arrive. The grounds are nice with a lot of outdoor seating for dining. The exterior of parts of the buildings was looking somewhat weathered but inside the room was fine. The complex has a supermarket and shops a short walk from the hotel too. We were very happy with our stay.

Dear Rainbow19, Thank you for sharing your experience and we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your brief stay and were pleased with the spacious room, buffet selections, and the overall quality of our catering. We’re also glad that you found the hotel’s location within Ayers Rock Resort convenient, and that you had the opportunity to explore the grounds. We appreciate your feedback regarding the exterior of the buildings. As we are located in the desert, the environment can affect the exterior of the buildings quickly. Please know that we are continuously working on maintaining and improving all areas of the resort, and we are grateful for your review. It’s wonderful to know that despite the limited time to explore, you were able to enjoy the amenities we offer. We hope you will have the chance to visit us again in the future, allowing you more time to relax and enjoy all that the resort has to offer. Best regards,

Just wow!!

This is our second visit toYulara’s resorts and the Uluru/Kata Tjuta National Park area. On our first visit we stayed at Desert Gardens which was very nice. On this occasion we decided to stay at Sails in the Desert. From our arrival to departure the staff at the resort could not have done more for us. They were genuinely interested in hearing about our experiences and 100% committed to ensuring our stay was truly great. The food was exceptional at every restaurant and cafe we went to and the resort facilities were extremely good. The pool at Sails is fabulous after a day exploring. I would recommend this resort to anyone who was looking for something special (on this occasion it was to celebrate my wife’s birthday!). Do not miss the Wintjiri Wiru Drone Show with Uluru as the backdrop. It is a short bus journey away from the resort in the evening. Another highlight for us was the Australian Native High Tea, served in the afternoon at the Sails resort itself. If you have not been to the area, you should really think about going in the near future. So much to experience!!!

Dear Bigjuan58, Wow, thank you so much for your incredible review! It’s wonderful to know that our team could make your stay extra special, and we are thrilled that you had such a fantastic experience with the food, facilities, and service at Sails in the Desert. We’re especially happy that you chose to celebrate your wife’s birthday with us! The Wintjiri Wiru Drone Show and the Australian Native High Tea truly are highlights of the area, and we’re glad you enjoyed them. Thank you for your glowing recommendation—we can’t wait to welcome you back for another unforgettable experience. Best Regards

This was quality at its best, staff who couldn't be more helpful and genuinely friendly, organisation from arrival to departure that was second to none and above all providing a relaxing break with professionalism throughout. A highly recommended place to stay for one night or much longer; the service never changed.

Fantastic resort! Wanted to stay longer.

Beautiful resort in the middle of nowhere! When the bus pulled up I did not know what to expect and wow was I surprised! Beautiful grounds. Great staff. A bus full of guests arrived all at the same time and the staff was very thorough and polite and assured everyone. Resort only has a pool on site but it is clean and family friendly. The room was big and beautiful and very clean. I was sad to only be spending one night. Would have loved to have stayed longer.

Dear Faisal T, We’re happy to hear that you had such a positive experience at our resort. It’s great to know that our grounds, staff, and the overall ambiance exceeded your expectations. We’re glad you enjoyed the spacious and clean room, and we understand how one night can feel too short when you’re having such a great time. We would love to welcome you back for a longer stay in the future! Thank you again for your feedback. Kind Regards

Would stay again with minor changes.

All in all, we liked Sails in the Desert, save a couple of structural challenges. The customer service was amazing. On check in we had a problem with our room and it was fixed before we even made it back there. Then they came with an apology. (Much appreciated.) When people complain of pricing, remember you are in the middle of nowhere and you are a captive audience. Things will be expensive. Period. Also, the toilets are not dirty there, as some on Tripadvisor complain. ALL of the toilets we saw in the area had the same deposits. I have to think that being in the middle of an iron oxide semi-arid desert explains it. Since evening experiences were cancelled because of weather, we sampled Sails' restaurants. Two nights, we ate at the bar- it was fine, although service was very very slow and once at the buffet. It was good. no complaints, at all. The Breakfasts were varied and delicious, note that coffee service was slow, but they seemed understaffed. I think our room (220) was as far from an elevator, as possible. Also, I was unable to use the pool, even on the day that it hit 106 degrees F, because there was no handrail. (IMO, that was a total miss!!) If you have trouble walking or use a cane, as I do, consider this when you are making your reservation. Again, I really felt relaxed at Sails and recommend it. It's a great location with excellent service.

Dear ChloesMomBetsey, We're pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the customer service. We also value your observations regarding the room distance and pool accessibility; we’ll certainly take them into consideration for future improvements. Thank you for sharing your feedback. Best regards
