Facilities at Sales in the Desert are great. Due to the Covid restrictions, breakfast is served at the Sales in the desert including guests from nearby hotels. As a Accor Plus platinum member, we received a welcome gift package including two mugs, one pack of Native tea bags, two large bottles of imported natural sprint water which is largest gift set we received so far as a member for many years. Accor plus member card can be used at several restaurants inside the Voyages complex. Highly recommend to dine at Mangata Bistro at Desert Gardens. Ribs are must try. Meals at Walpa Lobby Bar at Sails in the desert were not great. We ordered Wagyu beef burger and Lamb curry. Beef patty and lamb were both dry.

Great meals at Sails

Whilst we didn't actually stay at Sails in the Desert, (we stayed at Dessert gardens which is also Accor), We had a couple of really lovely meals at Sails in the desert. We enjoyed both the buffet breaky and the dinner buffet. Neither were particularly cheap, but with the 1/2 price dinner option that accor offers members it was very good value. However, I was extremely disappointed, that when we went to pay for our breaky that the hotel didn't honour the 1/2 price members deal for the breaky buffet. At $45 per person, this was then too expensive for us to go back again for another breaky. I was under the impression that all accor hotels offered all meals (except take out) 1/2 price for members.

A wonderful stay!

We loved the resort - beautiful room, food in the pool restaurant was a great variety of local and different ingredients that were delicious! unfortunately we didn't have time to have the buffet which we heard was fantastic! All the staff were very friendly and helpful with tour information and other enquiries. Overall we had a fantastic holiday!

Hi jacquiwwww Thank you for your lovely review and we are delighted that you so enjoyed your time with us. It will be my pleasure to share your comments directly with our team! After hiring a rental car from Airport, we drove to the Cultural Centre & did a small walk at Uluru. Arriving at Sails in the Desert, the staff were very welcoming & helpful. Our room was beautifully refurbished, with modern decor aligning with the desert. Bed was extremely comfortable. All areas - pool, grounds & town square are beautifully maintained. As we had initially booked for our 45th anniversary in 2020, the manager organised a chilled bottle of wine & mineral waters sent to our room. This was a lovely & surprising gesture - greatly appreciated. Walpa Lobby Bar is an excellent place to unwind, relax with drinks & food. Mangata bar & bistro at Desert Gardens Hotel was also open & offers ala carte menu with delicious food & friendly, attentive & professional service. Highly recommend! Unfortunately the buffet at Ilkari Restaurant at $77 per head - was extremely disappointing. Limited choice & food was dry & tasteless. Our booking was for early in the evening- so was not due to being in Bain-Marie too long. We hardly ate anything - & what we did was tasteless. All meats, fish extremely dry. Because of this, I have rated overall as 4 stars for stay. Geckos cafe offers breakfast Friday to Monday, lunch & dinner all week. Kulata Academy Cafe was offers breakfast through to lunch & great coffee. Friendly staff who are training - make you feel welcomed. All staff in the complex are professional & greet guests - even the grounds staff & cleaners. Voyages own all areas in Yulura - so service is impeccable. Would highly recommend the Field of Light Star Pass.

A wonderful 3 day stay at Sails. Our room was large and very comfortable. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The self service guest laundry is a great feature. The only slight disappointment for us is that the restaurant is buffet only. An a la carte option featuring indigenous ingredients would have really topped off the experience.

Hi chrisd67822 Thank you for sharing your experience and we are delighted that you so enjoyed your stay at Sails in the Desert. Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances we are unable to open all of our dining venues however we do offer a range of dishes using Indigenous ingredients across all of our dining venues and we hope you were able to enjoy a selection. It was a pleasure to have you a s a guest and we thank you for choosing to visit Ayers Rock Resort. Kind Regards Todd Hunter General Manager Sails in the Desert

We stayed in a superior room for 4 nights. The room was spacious and had all the amenities required - large king size bed with comfortable pillows, large bathroom and shower, separate rest area with couch, and outside table and chairs. The garden was lovely with lots of green grass, white river gums, native shrubs and a large pool area. The food was delicious for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There were 3 options for dinner, smorgasbord in the restaurant, pool side bistro with shared plates and bare bites. The experience was worth the expense. Wouldn't stay anywhere else at Yulara. Only disappointment was not being able to use my Accor membership card for breakfast and the poolside dinner.

Hi ScottL975 Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and we are delighted that you so enjoyed your stay with us at Sails in the Desert along with all the amenities on offer. It was certainly our pleasure to have you as guests and we further thank you for choosing to visit Ayers Rock Resort. Kind Regards Todd Hunter General Manager Sails in the Desert

We could not have been happier staying at Sails in the Desert. The staff was very attentive, the room was lovely, food especially the Buffet was terrific and the facilities including the Pool was relaxing. Our only issue would be the Spa which although saying it was opened I don't think it was. We also knew the hotel and the whole resort was short staffed so we appreciated the effort they made to make our stay as good as it was thanks!

Staff were friendly, professional and hard working as the hotel is clearly understaffed due to COVID challenges. Update of the hotel evident in modern bathrooms and furnishings. Pool well maintained although could have done with more lounge chairs. Frustrations with the only dinner option being the buffet. Meals at the bar stopped at 5.30pm to push people to more expensive buffet option but with COVID that was booked out quickly which meant going to the only other venue open for dinner in Yulara (Geckos bar/bistro). Why push people to a different venue when we would have happily stayed in-house. Not 5 star compared with capital city hotels but would definitely stay there again.

Hi mpc1133 Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and we are so pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay at Sails in the Desert. Your additional constructive feedback is also greatly appreciated and we wish to assure you that are working to open more facilities and increase our staffing levels as quickly as possible. Liked our room which was however as far away from amenities as possible and we are not young!Check in was a nightmare with a very long queue.Ordered breakfast ,45 minute wait and part of order was missing.Asked for it to come but nothing arrived.Dinner in the restaurant was disappointing with “hot”food lukewarm and kangaroo pieces inedible.Oysters were the wrong side of fresh.Sounds of Silence dinner service was slow and responsible service of alcohol was not observed to the point where the man next to me got totally inebriated! On the plus side,Sails gives access to one of the greatest sights in the world, there are lots of activities in easy reach.Staff needs to up their act and food and drink prices should drop to match quality.

Hi 10Raindrops Thank you for taking the time to share your review from your recent stay and while we are pleased that you enjoyed your room it is disappointing that we were fully unable to meet expectations. Your feedback is certainly appreciated and will be shared with our team. It is our priority to provide great quality food and service in our remote destination and are areas in which we normally pride ourselves upon. While there have been some operational challenges with reopening the resort post the COVID closure our focus remains on providing the best possible experience and we therefore apologise for any inconvenience caused to you. We thank you for choosing to visit our beautiful destination as it was certainly our pleasure to have you as guests at Ayers Rock Resort. Kind regards Todd Hunter General Manager Sails in the Desert

This is definitely the pick of the pick if you want a fews days in the centre of Australia. Service and food is great, the location is terrific and what other way to finish a 42 C day if not by taking a plunge into that cristal, clear pool. It really is a home away from home. Staff is friendly and exhibit that lay back Northern Territory attitude.

Half the resort was closed, expect to pay lots for anything. Was insect spray in our room, had to put rid on a nighttime to sleep, smell outside room, which attracted more flys, was not offered a breakfast package, pool gate not secure, waited all day for room clean, ants in room, workmen on site during the day, renovating a room, using power tools to dry cut tiles, which is a health hazard, very disappointed, breakfast was enjoyable, satchel polite

Hi Helen P We are sorry to read your stay at Sails in the Desert did not meet expectations. Providing a high quality and authentic experience is always our priority and it is therefore disappointing that we were unable to achieve it on this occasion. Our harsh desert climate does mean that we do experience more insects and wildlife than in metro areas and hence we provide as much assistance as possible to assist with guest comfort. Your additional feedback is appreciated and will certainly be shared as we continually strive to improve the overall experience. We hope that you were still able to enjoy exploring the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and we thank you for choosing to visit. Kind Regards Todd Hunter General Manager Sails in the Desert

Very good rooms clean and spacious and well air conditioned. Meals can be very expensive, Breakfast $44 each and no alternative in the hotel. At 10.30am you can order from the bar menu. Dinner has a wide variety...

All staff excellent. Room size terrific. Lucky to have a huge terrace room with Uluru view. Food good. Great modern bathroom. Furniture and equipment excellent standard. Staff booked tours for us at last minute no hassles. Close to all Yulara amenities. Very few people due to COVID19 with limited facilities open but this did not deter our holiday. Only suggestion would be a sail cloth over part of the pool to provide some shade.

NTflyer2016 TripAdvisor review

We had a very enjoyable 3 night stay at Sails in the Desert. Check in was nice an easy with the hotel semi recognizing my Gold Accor membership by giving up our complimentary drinks but there was no room upgrade or any other benefits. Despite no room upgrade our room was very nice with two Queen size beds and a well appointed room. The bathroom was very clean and modern with excellent toiletries. We had dinner one night at the restaurant. At $77 per head it is a very expensive buffet especially for a vegetarian like myself. My wife enjoyed the seafood but I thought it lacked vegetarian options. It was disappointing that kids are charged $25 for over 3 year olds. We did not end up having breakfast their either due to the $45 price per person. The pool was nice as were the grounds and inside areas. Would happily stay there again especially since you can get very reasonably priced food at the local supermarket.

PaulGiorgi TripAdvisor review

Hi all, To be frank, accommodation and restaurant were OK (OK but not exceptional), but the customer service was a disaster. Our room was not ready in due time (surprisingly, because the hotel was far from full capacity), concierge was not aware of our side booking (field of light) and tried to charge it on our room (while we had booked everything on the Ayers Rock website), during the check-out, some of the previous guest bills were charged on our room (with no signature or a different from mine), it took nearly 30 min to fix that out and we were close to miss the plane. Unfortunately Sails was the only hotel open in Yulara at the time, if you have the choice, choose another one (which sadly may belong also to the Accord group….).

Hi PaulGiorgi thank you for taking the time to share your feedback from your stay at Sails in the Desert and we are very sorry to read that we were unable to fully meet your expectations. Providing friendly and efficient service is our priority and it is therefore most disappointing to read that this was not your experience. We certainly apologise for the problems you experienced and we wish to reassure you that we are working as hard as possible in difficult operational circumstances to reopen facilities and increase our staffing levels as quickly as possible after our COVID enforced closure. We hope that you were still able to enjoy exploring the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and we thank you for choosing to visit Ayers Rock Resort. great location, spacious room, quiet and great friendly service. staff very happy to help. Food was great. Best buffet breakfast i have ever had. So fresh and great variety.
