We booked the Mercure Brighton to hold a wake for my aunt. Olivia was great to deal with and all the staff were so helpful. We had selected afternoon tea to have on the day, and the room was all laid out really well. The food was very well received and delicious. We thought it was great value for money. All in all, we couldn't fault the service, location and staff.

We enjoyed a truly wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff are so friendly, helpful and also very professional. We were upgraded to the junior suite which was fabulous. The hotel itself is a beautiful building right on the seafront offering excellent food and drinks in the tastefully decorated bar/restaurant area which has a lovely ambiance. It’s almost opposite the bandstand so a really good location too. I would definitely recommend it. We’ll be back.

A room with a view!

Regular visitors to Brighton but first time staying here, would definitely recommend. Excellent location opted for the prestige room 112 huge balcony overlooking the seafront would be amazing in the summer. The hotel and room were spotless, bed was really comfortable. The bathroom had a large shower and the products were a nice touch. The room temperature can be adjusted to suit your own preference. We didn’t bother with breakfast as there are lots of places nearby. We used the car park it was £28 a day which sounds expensive but I guess you pay for the convenience the multi storey around the corner would have been £25 anyway. We would definitely stay here again.

Only 1 night here but that was way too long. My room was in the rear mews. It was minus 2C outside and the heating couldn’t cope. The front desk suggested turning the air conditioner on in heat mode but that produced nothing. I spent the night in my coat in bed. There are 2 power sockets and only one by the desk. No beside power to charge your gizmos. The bathroom sink leaked water down the drain so wouldn’t fill and the bathroom mirror was so far away you need binoculars to shave. The breakfast was average but at least you get a view of the sea. The Mercure has helpful staff but Accor management have cost reduced it to well below Travelodge quality. To claim this is a 4 star property is laughable. The location is good on the seafront but you’ll have an unpleasant stay here.

While the air‑conditioning units are designed to provide additional heating support, it’s clear that this did not function as it should. Spending the night feeling cold is unacceptable, and I sincerely apologise for the discomfort this caused. Our maintenance team has been instructed to fully inspect the room’s heating system to ensure this does not happen again. Your comments regarding power sockets, the bathroom sink, and the mirror distance have also been noted. These details matter, and I appreciate you highlighting them. We will be reviewing these points as part of our ongoing improvement plans for the mews rooms. I am glad to hear that you found our staff helpful — they always aim to support guests wherever possible — though I am disappointed that the condition of the room and your overall experience overshadowed their efforts. Overcharginng

Lovely bar and staff but was very annoyed when I found out I was being overcharged by 10% every time I went to the bar. I noticed that the price in the drinks menu is different to what you get charged at the bar - a 60p per pint overcharge! Having spent a lot of time there over summer ( I live locally), it annoyed me to think how much I've been overcharged it total.
