Just bear in mind this was sold as a lovers weekend retreat package, I can't imagine a worse one! Costs: We paid £328 for 2 nights, bed and breakfast, with one night a 3 course dinner from a set menu. The costs would've been much more but by creating an account and paying for the non refundable rate we managed to get it at that price point. We stayed in room 160, supposedly a "privilege" room. If you want onsite parking that would be an extra £28 per night and it's on a first come first serve basis - which by the way, you can't book and pay for it in advance when you've paid for your room, you must enquire when you arrive at the hotel, so there's no guarantee of getting a spot. First impressions: hotel facade is well presented. The Reception/Foyer/Bar is beautiful, well decorated, warm and inviting but as soon as we left the reception and walked into the threadbare carpeted hallway areas towards our room, the inviting warm glow quickly disappears. Room 160: The room was cold, poorly lit, dirty, with poorly made bed, mould over the door, the air con unit was noisy and dripped water. The room has a musty smell. The bathroom was dirty and there were cracked tiles and if your partner were to use the bathroom, the ventilation system blows the smells into your room so you might as well have been in the bathroom with them. The room was very dated; if you need to find a socket to plug your devices in to charge, you're having to unplug the existing amenities - which defeats the point. It felt like we were sleeping in the staff quarters as right outside our room was where the staff would pile up the dirty laundry for collection. Food: honestly. Don't bother. We were told that as they were hosting evening events, there would be no food served after 5.45pm. So our so-called 3 course meal was initially going to be served in the bar, hunched over a low coffee table, which is unacceptable. They then put us in the breakfast room which made us feel like we were an inconvenience. The room was cold and draughty, definitely not feeling like a romantic meal for two. The food was underwhelming. Cold and bland. The best part of the meal was the sorbet... Which probably was bought in and not even made on site, for all we know. They shouldn't have sold us a set course meal as part of the package deal if they can't actually provide that service. We would've just eaten at the many restaurants nearby but we bought the package thinking we'll just stay in the hotel for the weekend to celebrate our 15 year anniversary. The only saving grace was that the staff were lovely, the location is excellent for all the many local pubs etc and breakfast was acceptable. Not outstanding, just acceptable. We made our feelings aware to the desk staff but we won't be holding our breath to hear from the management team. The hotel feels on its last legs and is just about trying to survive. The sad thing is that the venue wasn't even fully booked up, they could have upgraded our room, they could've allowed us to park onsite for a reduced cost, they could've provided better service but it generally felt like staff were trying their best but working in a poorly managed environment with insufficient training.

Needs to sort out condensation and heating.

My place of work book me these hotel, as part of a training package for myself and the rest of the team. We all experience problems with the rooms. My and other had mould in the windows, we have complain of cold rooms and old furniture. I complain at the end of my stay others complain as soon as they arrived and got rooms changed, I was to tired to deal with that. The breakfast room is small so make sure to get there early to get a seat. But the staff are helpful and efficient.

Awful awful awful stay, we stayed here the night to watch Jimmy Carr for my fiancés birthday and we decided to upgrade to the privilege room with a balcony in what we can say was dreadful, the room looks nothing like what was advertised, they also show rooms with a bath we had none, also show the room on the photos being much bigger, we were given a box room. This box room had a dirty and unusable mattress which was that bad it didn’t lay flat, it was like being on a slope. The room was dirty, it smelt or mould and drains, some lights didn’t work, hot tap in bathroom didn’t work and the air con made a high pitched noise in which you couldn’t use it, so the room was also cold. We both woke up cold and with awful backs, we aren’t old, 30s and 20s it’s actually a joke that this is supposed to be there best room and this is what there selling, they are outright ripping customers off and taking the mick as I’ve stated in tents which offer better accommodation than this place, I’d never ever set foot here again and if you’re booking this hotel I suggest you do the same!

Room was damp - we were in the Mews and it wasn’t great and it was cold - but location is brilliant!

The rooms in the mews are cold and smelt damp, carpets are filthy and our room had an iron burn on the floor! The location of the hotel is excellent and breakfast was great. All staff are helpful and the reception area is lovely but the room was a let down We picked this hotel as we needed parking

This was a weekend trip with friends and it began with a rather nerve-wracking experience of reversing out of an impossibly small and inadequate carpark below the hotel because it was full and there was no way of turning our car around in the cramped space. We found alternative (but very expensive) parking a short walk away. However, this parking restriction had been in the booking details, so we were not going to let it spoil our weekend. The entrance and reception lobby were very impressive and beautifully decorated. The staircase was photo-worthy and the bar area was comfortable and welcoming. Our room, however, was disappointingly plain and bordering on shabby. There was only one powerpoint in the whole room and the clothing storage was a shelving frame that already held spare bedding and towels and a tea/coffee-making tray (so little room for anything else). The bed had one pillow for each occupant and these were very different in size. However, it has to be said that the mattress and pillows were actually very comfortable!!! The ensuite bathroom definitely needs upgrading. The flooring looked dirty and so did the shower cubicle. There were weird bumps in the flooring too. The shower cubicle is far too small and it is hard to squeeze in and shut the door. The hotel is located really handily for all attractions and we enjoyed a stroll to the Pavilion, the i360 and the upside down house. After a meal out, we returned to the hotel to find a party in full swing. We had a drink in the bar to pass some time while the music boomed but the struggle really started when we went to bed. Our room was practically directly over the entertainment area and the music was so loud that we could have sung along with the songs if we weren't feeling so tired and in need of sleep. My husband went to the Reception at 11pm and was told it would continue until midnight. No apology or offer to turn down music or change our room. We felt like we were being killjoys, so tried to rest, while keeping an eye on the clock. Finally, we felt we had just shut our eyes when partygoers stood in the corridor outside, talking and laughing and banging doors. By the time we got to 4am we were feeling very fed up. I understand that hotels host events but maybe thoughts for other guests could be considerations by improving sound-proofing and also checking if people are guests at the organized events before assigning rooms. A heads-up at the time of booking would have been appreciated as we felt drained the following morning and our friends felt the same. Breakfast gave us a glimmer of hope when each guest was greeted so cheerfully by Amal. She explained the process and invited us in to eat. She is utterly in the right role and her positivity lifted us. On check-out, we were asked how our stay was and when we said about the lack of sleep, we were almost told off by the receptionist, who told us she could not control other people's behaviors and we should have called Reception at 4am (damage done by then and also, early mention of the noise had offered no solutions....). Shan't return.....
