On arrival for our 3 night stay it was evident that we were not the target demographic for this mountain lodge- not a family or conference attendee. Screaming kids in the lobby running around and jumping on the sofas- which was our only option to lounge in comfort and escape our depressing room as we had our dog with us. The ghastly coloured slide in front of the hotel detracts from the blue mountains scene you are there to enjoy. Whilst the grounds are lovely and well kept, there are kids activities everywhere- most not operating during our days. The dining options are limited with operating times, the bar is not open in the morning for an alternative to a buffet breakfast, it closes at 8pm and room service at 9pm - gotta get the kids to bed I assume so a lack of patronage to warrant extending the hours. Staff were very friendly and we ate in the Sublime Bar a few times and the food was good. Golf course and spa staff were also friendly. Whilst we appreciate the opportunity to bring our dog (who was better behaved than other guests) this hotel falls short on what other hotels are offering and we felt we were second class citizens paying for the extra privilege of having him with us. The room allocated should not be a room up for sale at all. Ground floor dungeon, we couldn’t get Telstra mobile reception which was required when the wifi was poor. Fishbowl like with a main walkway right past with people looking over you if sitting in the concrete court yard or looking in to the room and commenting on our dog. An umbrella would provide more privacy and a plant in the empty pot would make it look more inviting rather than looking at the emergency exit door that comes in to your courtyard or the 2 drains you sit amongst. We could hear everything on the other side of the closed connecting door, due to the door the tv was in a position not comfortable to use the lounge. The bed was awful and needs replacing, we tried 3 different positions to help our sore backs. For a designated pet room we had to request a dog bed and bowls. I also had to air out and exit the room for well over an hour on arrival due to some hard core chemicals used for cleaning which had me constantly coughing. Such a disappointing stay which was supposed to be a lovely holiday celebrating a big milestone anniversary for us, all we got from the hotel was a bottle of legacy wine shoved in our face by the girl delivering it not knowing what it was for. We will never return to this awful theme park of a hotel. Management need to clearly market this property properly to stop terrible reviews like mine when I’m clearly not your target.

Took the family up to the Blue Mountains and stayed at the Fairmont. Everyone from the check-in staff to the concierge staff were friendly, attentive and keen to help. Booked the 2 bedroom Deluxe Suite and it was more than comfortable and spacious for the four of us. Breakfast was simple but delicious. During the first half of our stay, the weather was not on our side but we managed to spend the time enjoying the hotel's facilities, including the ice skating rink. Once the weather cleared up, we were within short driving distance to the different sights of the area.

Needs instant refurbishment!

Very old hotel in urgent need of a refurbishment. Bad restaurant and very simple breakfast. Not tidy, lots of dirt in the hallways. It's a pity. This once beautiful resort in an even more beautiful surrounding has been neglected over the years and now is in a state of decay.

Great for Grand Cliff Walk stopover

This is a monster of a family focused hotel. Think of screaming, out of control kids, on toy scooters raging through the hotel lobby until 9pm, with unphased parents thinking this is normal, echoing into the restaurants and down room hallways, making the buffet brekkie unbearable, hallways messy. This unfortunately does not suit adults only, couples who just want a peaceful stay in the mountains. The hotel is 80's dated with a paint refresh so not too bad in appearance. The rooms are a decent size. We were promised valley views but the trees interupt that with a eye-sore rainbow kids slippery dip out front with the views. Luckily for us it was just 1 night. The Accor Plus benefits seemed half hearted with discounts just on mains & not the rest so it was a bit tricky to navigate. My hotel bill with huge with other guest charges on it but after some waiting it was rectified with apology.

Great if you play golf or are bringing the family

This is a beautiful family or golfer oriented resort. I wouldn’t recommend for couples unless you like kids-as they are everywhere, but as we had our grandson it was great. We visited on the weekend, hopefully different vibe during the week. There is an indoor, outdoor pool, an ice-rink, toboggan, games rooms, world class golf course etc etc, so no-ones getting bored. Nice range of restaurants with awesome views however the room service selection is limited and expensive ($30 for a burger) but good quality. Typical of an Accor brand hotel- inflate the food price to compensate for their Accor card discount program. Our rooms (321 & 318) were very large and clean if somewhat boring and generic in decor. Good comfortable bed and nice toiletries in the bathroom. Free parking is always appreciated and staff are friendly and professional. While the overall impression of the property is a historic grand alpine resort there is a feeling of it being “used” rather than pristine with some maintenance and cleanliness issues making it more four star rather than four and a half or five. The outside pool has large chips in the pool surface, the parquet flooring around lift lobbies is pretty hammered and dirty. Not the hotels fault but a lot of parents don’t seem to give a damn about controlling their kids ( they’re there to “relax”) and the result is damage to the property and aggravation to other guests.
