Upon arrival informed swimming pool and gym were closed. Initially no understanding for our disappointment about this and we were asked if we wanted to cancel the whole booking (as a solution to the problem). Later on, alternative offered to transport to different location to use the pool (quality way less)

Had to stay here twice in a week on the way to the Mentawai islands. Booked joining rooms for our family of four with two kids under 10 and found they have allocated us rooms across the hall despite booking and requesting 1 month earlier. Food in the restaurant (A burger) took 1hour 15 mins to arrive for my son - obviously they forgot it..... Not a great breakfast either.

It seems that I did not get the accor point for my staying at mercure padang. I do not know why, can you please help check? the system of the hotel receptionist and restaurant for break fast was not linked. I have booked with breakfast , and then at breakfast the staff ask us to pay.

The front desk & service staff very nice & friendly. The negative feedback I have is when the I received a call from reservation staff who was trying to move my reservation to Ibis hotel/ inferior hotel. But I insist to remain in Mercure as per my booked reservation

Nice Place, friendly Staff and Nice People. Although the hotel is close to the hustle of the city, the hotel is very convenient for a place to rest and very close to the beach. Very strategic place to stay. The food menu in the restourant is very delicious. And a comfortable place also to relax, because this restaurant is adjacent to the pool.

The hotel located in quite area, good for relaxation & looking at open sea. During evening can scroll by the beach side to by snack & others. Good for morning walking. Shop is quite far from here. Staff very friendly.

We pre paid for a room and breakfast and were told the next day we could not have it.....and now when trying to contact the hotel for a refund we get no response. That coupled with the banging party until 01.30 quite frankly ruined our trip.

The highlight of the visit was the breakfast. This chef could show a thing or 2 to other Accor Hotel chefs. Fantastic. The low light was being an Accor Club Platinum member I am requested to fill in preferences for rooms when booking, 1 of which was away from the elevator. Where was my room? Right next to the elevator! People coming and going from early to late. Disappointing, don't know why Accor ask for such preferences when they are frequently ignored.

Staffs are friendly and helpful. Lobby is warm-welcome and clean. Room is tidy with nice interior. Bathroom is clean with ample space. Breakfast is nice both the restaurant and food quality. Location is strategically in the middle of the city and close to Padang beach. Highly recommended hotel.

Lackluster And Disoriented Reception Staff

Our check-in on Jan 5 was greeted by Tommy, who was very pleasant and helpful. However the reception manager was not al all nice. He was abrupt and defensive in his service attitude. When we went to the reception again to get some information, he was peeping through the small glass window of door leading to the office area. We have asked specific questions to the Seafood Restaurant, we were not told that it was not opened but was told to have the taxi running the meter so that we could catch the same cab back. In the end we paid IDR 50,000 for a round trip back to the hotel.l without dinner. We did not bother to embarrass Ridho. Another occasion, after spending minutes talking to the reception about calling a cab at 5 pm she did not bother to pass it on to her colleagues when she left for the day. We had to start all over again. However, the Housekeeping and F&B staff are simply fantastic! They were always eager to serve attentively. The reception staff need full training to understand what Customer Service is. The manager was unimpressive and we did not see him after checking in. We spent 7 nights and had to tolerate the inefficiency of the reception staff. We were in the same property in Singapore before that, the reception there was nothing short of warmth and welcoming. It was excellent!

During my stay at this hotel , I feel really happy and comfortable . why ? because since the start of the arrival , the hotel staff is very responsive and serve me with a warm and sincere smile . I really do like a king in this hotel starting from check in to check out . The hotel rooms are luxurious and very clean . The restaurant is good and the food taste is very delicious . Of course , the hotel location is very strategic and close to the beach and food street vendors . Access to the hotel is very easy to find.I stated that this hotel is very comfortable and safe for leisure or business.Thank you and I hope to be back to stay at this hotel another time.

Almost a Resort

Mercure Padang's expansive driveway and lobby bespeak of this property's uniqueness in the Mercure portfolio. Take a flight of stairs (or the elevator) up and one comes to the very pleasant pool/Atlantis restaurant area. A family event brought me back to Padang, and I am very glad I chose to stay at the Mercure. It is not in the very center of town, but it's a mere 2-3 minute walk from Purus beach. Besides, Padang is not a big place, a 10-15 minute drive took me almost anywhere. The hotel gave me a warm welcome as Accor platinum member, upgrading my reservation to a lovely junior suite, where a plate of cakes and fruits was waiting. My birthday happened to fall during my stay there, and in the evening a complimentary birthday cake was waiting in my room, and it was simply delicious! Breakfast at Atlantis was something to look forward to each morning. I always had mine sitting by the pool. The pool itself is very nice and inviting, a great place to catch the sunset (too bad I didn't catch a beautiful one during my stay). Two minor problems made my stay not so perfect: - Internet was patchy, prone to go down every now and then. - Housekeeping needs to be more familiar with procedures for the hotel robe. Everytime I came back in the afternoon, I found that the robe has been taken from the room (to be cleaned I expect). Also, when I called housekeeping regarding the missing robe, it was very difficult to make them understand what I meant - it seems they don't understand what a "robe" is. All in all, I had a very good time staying at Mercure Padang. From what I saw, it's the best place to stay within Padang city limits - as well as the best Mercure I've ever seen anywhere. It almost felt like I was staying at a resort. I would gladly stay here again.

We choose this hotel because it was still new and the location was good, but we later found out that the service was terrible. It seems that there was some construction work going on at night because we could hear banging in our room. We though that they're going to stop at around sleeping time (10 pm), but they keep on banging. We finally called the front desk at 12:30 am to complain about the banging and they promise us to follow up on it but it didn't stop. It finally stop banging at 04:30 am. Another bad experience that we had was that the carpet on the hall way from the elevator to our room smells very bad. it was those soggy or bad odor smells. We've complaint to the the bellboy who happened to pass by our floor, and what he did was spray air freshener the area and did nothing to the carpet. The smell was still there through out our stay. This was the worst hotel through out my experience staying in the Accor Hotel Group all this time.

Need more improvement

I stayed 2 night for business purpose. On the positive side, hotel is new and close to the city. The things needs to be considered is the hotel surrounded by old and ghetto style housing in contrast to the hotel. Also, room was dusty, A/C noise was loud, bathroom was in terrible conditions, glasses for drinking was dirty, the long corridor to my room smelled like human excrement. Note also for those who are allergic to MSG or flavor enhancer this place uses a generous amount on their soups and some of their dishes. I just hope that there will be positive changes in this hotel since this is supposedly still a new hotel building.

Especially regarding our facilities were not good as it sounds rather noisy air conditioning, bathroom was not in good condition, drinking glasses was not clean and corridor smell was not good. This is a serious concern for us so it does not reoccur in the future. For AC, we are working to provide a silencer, and then to the bathroom, this time we are doing repairs and extra cleaning. Regarding the corridor, after we checked, the bad smell comes from the smell of a gas leak, not the smell of human excrement. And the last of the sense amplifier, we will pay attention to their use in the future. Once again I thank you for this input, and we will share these comments with our team so that it can be a motivation for all staff so that it does not reoccur. Actually, I really enjoyed my stay at Mercure Padang hotel. The breakfast is great, got a nice variety of food there, the room is really clean and quite big for my standards. The downside is the location, which is a bit far from the town centre.

Dirty rooms poorly managed

One night at Mercure was more than enough for me. I arrived at the hotel early and was told check in was not until 2pm which is fair enough. When 2pm came around I was told the room was not ready and I would have to wait until 3pm. Even though I requested non smoking room the room absolutely stunk of smoke and was rather dirty. There was water flowing from the next room under the wall and into my shower when the next doors shower was being used - very unhygienic. Definitely never going back. The only positive thing I could add is that the food in the restaurant was very good for Padang standards
