The food was delicious. Shared scallops & arancini balls, duck main & followed by an affogato. Service was great. Beer on tap and local wines highly recommended.

Look at other options first, but this hotel is not terrible if the location and facilities work for you.

I would not stay here again but the hotel is ok. 1. Terrible administration! We had booked online, had had email correspondence and confirmed 1 week before coming. We got to the hotel at 7.45pm and reception closed at 7.30pm (luckily they had put our room keys in a safety deposit box… just in case we turned up) but they had cancelled our reservation as we were not there by 7.30pm! No where did it say we had to arrive by 7.30pm… so be warned. 2. The beds are so soft and really uncomfortable. 3. Restaurant gets fully booked if you don’t book in the morning for that evening. 4. They are building new pods for sleeping, whilst they look lovely there was a lot of building work going on whilst isn’t the calm and relaxed environment you want in Kangaroo Island.

Thank you for your feedback. We’d like to clarify that all building works have now been completed, and the new accommodation is finished. While reception does close in the early evening, room keys are always prepared for late arrivals, and our restaurant team is available to assist guests until 9:00pm. Our casual bar is also available at all times for guests. We appreciate your comments regarding bed comfort and restaurant bookings, and we do recommend booking early as the restaurant can fill quickly. Thank you for sharing your experience. Doesn’t have a gym or tennis courts has a pool though. Excellent food at both the restaurant and walk in bar. Bookings are a must for the restaurant.

Pleasant oasis with a a few flaws.

Not your normal location for a major chain but a pleasant oasis. The rooms have a beach chalet vibe with white painted wood panelling. They are rather nice with a chaise langue in the bay window but they have no chairs or table and the mini fridge is tiny. Our ‘poolside’ room came with a decent view of the sea. Breakfast is very parsimonious. $29 gets you a coffee from a machine, fruit juice, and a single waitress-served course. The granola bowl looked best, other courses always included dry sourdough slices. The adjoining plot is being built upon, so the car park was like a mud bath, especially in the rain. Could be really nice with a few tweaks.

The food in the restaurant was amazing! Would definitely recommend. The lodge itself is nice but especially in winter season when the pool is closed there's not much to do around which is fine because i spent most of the day on exploration tours. For a 2 day kangaroo island stay (or even longer) would definitely recommend and come again
