Beautiful hotel, awful bed, expensive parking and poor service.

We arrived at the hotel to find that parking was charged at £22 for just 24 hours. Given that the parking was clearly signposted as for hotel guests, we expected it to be either reasonably priced or, ideally, complimentary. Upon entering the hotel, we were impressed by its modern and elegant design. The atmosphere was lovely, and it certainly had a great first impression. However, the service left a lot to be desired. The reception took ages to get us checked in. When we finally made it to our room, we were pleased to see that it was spacious, clean, and modern. Unfortunately, our excitement was short-lived. When it came time for bed, we realised that instead of a double bed, we had been given two twin beds pushed together. This was a big disappointment, especially as we were expecting a proper double bed for our stay as a couple, and because we were there to celebrate our first year together. To make matters worse, the bed was extremely uncomfortable, lumpy and uneven, with a noticeable dip in the center where the beds were joined. For such a stylish hotel, this was quite shocking and unacceptable. The next issue occurred at check-out when I realised I had left my phone charger in the room. I asked the receptionist if I could quickly go back to retrieve it, but they insisted that they would need to contact the cleaning staff and have the charger brought to me. What should have taken two minutes turned into a one-hour wait, which was frustrating. To make matters worse, a week later, I received a £100 parking fine because we had exceeded the 24-hour parking limit by 45 minutes. This was due to the delay caused by the receptionist not allowing me to quickly return to my room to collect my charger. It was an unnecessary complication that resulted in a fine and additional cost, and I still don’t understand why I wasn’t allowed to just retrieve my charger myself. In summary, while the hotel is beautifully designed, the poor service and uncomfortable bed were major letdowns. The added parking charge and the fine from the receptionist’s refusal to let me retrieve my charger ended up more than doubling the cost of our stay. It’s a shame, as the hotel has a lot of potential but was ultimately let down by these issues.

Well placed near the heart of Cardiff city center, Holland House offers extra luxuries for your stay. The gym and pool are great and there is a good restaurant too. Rooms are a good size and have all the mod cons.

Went to stay here on Saturday and ended up walking away. Sadly very disappointing. At first the staff rang in the week to ensure that what we needed was accommodated but when we arrived the staff said they didn’t know what we were talking about. My dad doesn’t do lifts and when we tried to get out of the stair well it turns out that you don’t come into the reception you go outside to the back of the hotel which is dark and in my opinion unsafe and have to then walk round to the front! If you need to go up the stairs staff have to take you round the hotel, go outside to then be able to go up the stairs where their Keys don’t work! Health and safety worries. To top it off when leaving the car park the shutter wouldn’t go up so had to get reception to do it, they wouldn’t answer the phone number which was displayed so had to go to reception they opened the shutter when in reception obviously that then shut before we got down to the car again. Staff are incompetent and have no clue what to do!!!! Sadly would not recommend due to health and safety issues.

We booked the card of hotel for the weekend and we were really looking forward to it from the outside the hotel looks lovely. The first room we were given was like a sauna it was so hot we went down to reception and reported this and they said we could wait until it was repaired later in the day or we could change a room so we change rooms we had no apology or no help whatsoever to move to another room Then on our first morning we were looking forward to a nice breakfast how disappointed we were it was stone cold. We told the waitress and she warmed up in the microwave. We started eating it and then my daughter found a black hair in amongst the scrambled eggs we form the waitress again and got up to leave , the waitress was talking to the chef and we heard him say is it that couple again when she said yes he shooed us away with his hand and said go away. It was absolutely disgusting service the lady in reception was very apologetic and helpful, but we could not get a refund for breakfast as we had booked through Booking.com so if you stay at this hotel, I do not recommend you have in the breakfast. It was absolutely disgusting.

Really warm and natural welcome at reception on check in. Restaurant staff brilliantly and they really care about your experience. Food really good too. Erikson, Levi and Inceno on top form for dinner service. Thank you. Rooms nice, bathrooms could do with a revamp though.
