Mixed feelings but good lighting

I have mixed thoughts on this hotel and definitely question its star status. On the positive side - the staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. The hotel was pretty clean and very quiet. I always appreciate a quiet hotel. The bed was comfortable. The proximity to the train station, trams and city centre is great. However - the hotel is run down and seedy. You walk along the corridors and some of the door jams are not flush with the doors. The decor needs updating immediately! The curtains are cheap looking and have holes in them from sun damage. The sheers were even worse - huge holes in them. I am going to try and attach a photo of them. In the kitchenette, which apparently they will charge you for cleaning if they want, there is a card about turning on the dishwasher before you leave. Well, I thought, I can’t do that because I have no dishwasher. Under the sink area I had a fridge, a drawer with cutlery and a blocked area that I thought may have been a sealed off cupboard. Then I discovered that if I opened the fridge and pried the edge of the sealed cupboard, voila! The dishwasher would open. You could not open it with the handle because the front was so warped. However the shower was the opposite. The seals on the shower door did not touch anywhere. They provide a nespresso machine but no coffee pods. Some hotels give you a few and you can pay for more, others replenish the pods daily. I have never seen a hotel not provide any. On the other hand, if you go downstairs to the kitchen area, there is free coffee and tea all day. In the bathroom there is soap at the basin and in the shower. No other amenities. One positive is the lighting - my suite had very good lighting for reading, writing, etc in the evening. The best of all the hotels I had this spring.

Stayed in this hotel as part of a Gullivers Sports travel Package. Check in after delayed flight and early hours arrival was chaotic. They initially didn’t have a room for us.. then put us in disabilities room. Breakfast 5 hours later was the worst I’ve ever had during all of my travels! Only a few slices of cold meat and cheese. Basket of pastries. No hot choice…. coffee/tea machine queues were extensive as it was the slowest one ever! We did not go for breakfast again during our 3 night stay as it was so bad. Room service/ cleaning does not exist. They do not replenish toilets rolls, towels and no daily clean. There isn’t even any tea/coffee or water in the room. We arrived during early hours and had nothing! Very disappointing stay at hotel…i would not recommend. I have also complained to the travel company Gullivers.

Very conveniently located next to the Chateau and Tram line. Nice size room. Bathroom has shower and tub. Generally quiet but during the protests I did hear the amplified noise a block away. The breakfast is really lovely. Fantastic fresh croissants for breakfast, and fresh squeezed orange juice. This was the 2nd time I have stayed at this hotel. I came to Nantes for a conference, and took the convenient tram to the exposition center. Sightseeing, restaurants and transportation nearby to this hotel.
