The Sebel Pinnacle Valley 4성

Great rooms, great restaurant and bar, great location. Love this place. Used the Sebel as our home base for lots of walks and day trips into the mountains, including Craig's Hut, Delatite Winery and the Cheviot Tunnel. Not to mention some of the wonderful local pubs and breweries near Mansfield.

First time at Sebel but it was such a good choice so I cannot Waite to go again next summer because the pool area is fantastic.

Booked over phone 5 days prior to join friends who had booked earlier. I was charged $380 for the room when my friend was charged $208 on Bookings.com. I was told this was a premium as the policy was 2 night stays. I then found that my friends who booked 2 rooms had booked single nights, no mention of minimum 2 nights. I then asked if it would be a cheaper price per night if I stayed for 2 nights, but no it would be $380 per night. I thought I would get a better deal phoning direct? This is an outrageous price for the hotel room with 2 single beds pushed together, no supplies offered in mini bar or snacks, given its remote, there were 2 unwrapped? tiny lemon tarts in the fridge. I booked one night as I did not want to have to stay somewhere else as we were driving together and attending a function nearby. I phoned to ask if there had been a mistake on the price and asked if the manager could review this please as it was the same type of room my friend booked, for significantly less. I was told it was non refundable anyway, so nothing could be done. I was charged a similar sum to what they charge in winter for 2 room apartments for up to 5 people! I was a single person in their smallest room. I note that the room price varies a bit across booking sites and depending on how early you book but I was charged way more than the same room on booking sites showing availability at any time through the rest of the year! I have discussed this with the person on the desk and asked it to be referred to the manager, but clearly they had no power or interest in making me a more reasonable offer, I’m pretty sure the price I got was too much. They say it’s an international booking system at Accor and algorithms dictating price. I suggest unfair! Would certainly not come again at the price I paid! Coffee was weak, just warm and terrible, as was the poor quality crumbed chicken toasted in white bread sandwich I bought at the restaurant in the morning as the kitchen was not open for breakfast- despite being advertised as breakfast available on booking websites! A shame as it’s a distance to get breakfast anywhere in this location. I was warned to bring own breakfast on phone. I did not know I would have a toaster and microwave in my room. Pool was lovely, nice property. Parking not near reception or restaurant. The inconsistent room rates put me off, I feel I had to pay way too much compared to my friends and I had hoped the manager might review the price I was given. $273 and $288 appear on other booking sites - I paid $ 380!

Mountain escape between Xmas and New Year. Resort sits on a beautiful property in the high country. Sweeping views in all directions and the crispest mountain air to breath. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment that was incredibly spacious and well appointed. Restaurant onsite closes very early so be prepared - we got caught out one night and alternative options are sparse at certain times of the year/days of the week and anytime after 8pm. Location is excellent with Mt Buller and Mansfield nearby in each direction with lots of pretty little stops along the way.

We stayed in a Chalet. It was comfortale and well appointed. The internal stairs to the second bedroom are quite steep. Restaurant was not open every day. Christmas lunch was good and seafood based, with rolled pork, and turkey. Dessert was traditional Christmas pudding. They catered for GF and Vegetarian in our group. Lots of other outdoor activities on site and close walking trails. Mt Buller is very close and it snowed while we were there 23/12. WE managed to get a second chalet next door for our next generation and their kids. It worked well.
