We would firstly like to extend our Thanks to Mr Sevoki (Reception Manager) who took the time out to come and talk to us about our check in debacle caused by the reception staff during our stay. Whilst we do appreciate his efforts of an apology on behalf of his staff members, but we still feel that this was an avoidable, unfortunate and unnecessary incident to have occurred. We were looking forward to our hassle free relaxing overnight stay at the Novotel Nadi. Our check in should have been a very straightforward process, since we didn’t request any additional upgrades or changes just expected to be provided with the room which we had paid for, but rather it turned out to be a great hassle and inconvenience for us. Very substandard service, which we didn’t expect from a well renowned brand such as NOVOTEL. Our welcome was non existent with no complimentary drinks offered to us while others who checked in after us were treated to drinks. Why the difference in treatment when we were also paying customers? We don’t expect above and beyond services, however when they are subpar then that means that you aren’t even doing the bare minimum! We were sneakily given a downgraded room without being informed of such a change. When we called from this hotel room to advise of this error, no apologies were forthcoming from the receptionist and we were told to allow them 10 minutes to remedy the issue and we would receive a call back. Even after 10 minutes of waiting in the 1 Bedded room, there wasn’t any call back so we had to call them ourselves to get the update, and were informed that they were still working on readying up our actual room. In the meantime we informed them that we would be having lunch at the Hotel restaurant. Even after our meal, (now 2 hours had lapsed from our check in time) we made our way back to reception to see what the situation was with our room, only to be met with unbothered staff who didn’t even know what we were talking about. Also, we were not welcomed with the complimentary Welcome drinks, nor were we provided with a porter to escort our luggage to our hotel room! Funnily enough, we were always requesting these services rather than it just being provided to us by the hotel staff (I would presume that it is part of their job description to do so without being asked) Usually the general customer service etiquette is first come first served. However, this didn’t appear to be the case when we were trying to rectify our downgraded room situation. We were told to wait, (even though we were already 2 hours into being at the hotel and the issue of our room situation escalating from 10 mins to well over 2 hours) while the lone receptionist busied herself in attending to the other guests who arrived after us to check in. She should have called out another receptionist to help us sort out our room situation rather than making us wait. I wonder how long she actually expected us to wait! This shows a lack of respect and inconsideration towards guests and very poor staff training management. Finally when the receptionist who had originally checked us in came out to the reception area, we had to approach her ourselves, rather than her actually seeing that we were waiting at the reception area to sort out our room situation which was in actual fact her error to begin with. That’s the basic rule of hotel reception courtesy. There was no apology from either of the receptionists, nor did they offer any compensation for their error. I ended up calling them from the hotel room and advising them that I would be taking an extra hour for the check out time for the inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, it’s very disappointing when you have to deal with such undertrained, inexperienced and incompetent staff members who don’t seem to be bothered with performing their duties properly. It just makes the whole experience truly miserable. I would strongly recommend better quality and thorough training procedures for the hotel reception staff to ensure simple tasks such as check ins are not compromised by sheer incompetence. I would also like to add that the restaurant staff were all wonderful, friendly and helpful in their efforts to make our lunch and breakfast dining experience a positive one. Well done to everyone involved.

Although you were allocated the correct room type, it was provided with a different bedding configuration. Our sincere apologies for not informing you of this change at the time of check-in. Please note that the room you were finally checked in was in fact an upgrade to our Premium category, the Deluxe Suite. We are taking this matter seriously and will be conducting additional training with our team to ensure clear communication, attentive guest service, and timely issue resolution moving forward. Once again, we sincerely apologize that your stay was not the relaxing, hassle-free experience you anticipated. We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with the seamless and enjoyable stay you deserve.

Dark and grubby rooms

This is probably one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The reception area is quite nice but once you move away from there things start to get a bit grim. Our room was accessed via a tunnel like corridor, the room was on the first floor and there are no lifts so you have to carry your own suitcases up the stairs. The rooms are dark and grubby, in urgent need of a major refurbishment. The only positive is the hotel is close to the airport but I wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay here.

Not Accor standard

Disappointed as Accor members- this is not in line with Accor hotel standards. While the staff were lovely, the hotel had too many locals wandering around and using the pool- non paying guests should not be using guest facilities. The room had carpets??! For humid environment a carpet is not practical- the cleaners did not have vacuums so do not how the carpets were being cleaned, the room was musty and dusty and bathroom was disgusting. The food was excellent and well as the gym but dreaded going back to the room. Had serious doubts bedding was being changed - the rooms are too old and not a 4 star standard. Will rate this more a 2.4-3 stars and does not justify the price they are charging Would not be staying here again other than to eat at the restaurant.

Avoid at all costs

There were only 2 things we liked about this hotel: 1. A good restaurant 2. Close proximity to the airport. However, overall, we have been left with a sour taste in our mouth and a bitter end to our time in Fiji. We were incredibly disappointed with our stay at Novotel Nadi and agree with other reviews suggesting a 2 star would better reflect this hotel. We had booked a superior double room with multiple beds. However, the room we ended up with did not match that description. The room was crawling with ants near the bed, by the tea station, and through the bathroom. The room was dirty - notably toilet, bath and floors did not look clean. The room was dark and stunk of cigarette smoke. The bed was uncomfortable, and the pillows were in effect lumpy pillow cases. If you have booked here a warning that they may attempt to overcharge you for the room. On arrival, it was acknowledged that we had paid in advance via Expedia, and we were advised a FJD100 hold would be charged to our card for any damages. On check out after a comedy of misunderstandings, they charged an additional FJD113.50 after misleading me to believe they needed my card to refund the original hold. The hotel was then reluctant to refund either transaction until we could prove that we had already paid (despite, I'm sure their system showing the settled account). Our taxi driver who had witnessed the interaction told us we are not the first people he's seen impacted by this. We would not recommend this stay to anybody and would suggest avoiding at all costs.

Average - needs an upgrade

Pretty average. The room smelled really damp and everything was falling off - the toilet paper roll holder, the cupboard handles. I really didn’t care too much because I’m not really fussy. As the reviews state - it really needs an upgrade. The reception on the tv was bad. The staff were fine and the breakfast was very good. The food at the restaurant was average but acceptable. The grounds around the hotel are very pretty. Overall, not great considering the price but it’s acceptable. Not Novotel standards in a Western country
