For the price excellent in an under appreciated town

Actually for a chain hotel this was pretty impressive. The front office staff seemed good and the room was pleasant. I had a room overlooking the river with a balcony strangely floored with fake grass. Is this a french thing? Two small issues - one the room had a dark corridor entry which made finding the slot to put the key in to start the electricity difficult and two the view of the river was at best obstructed. Yes. It was there - but there was a building and a road that prevented it becoming a good view.

All round, superb service. Room was clean, breakfasts were superb and staff v friendly and helpful. Iced water available on every floor. Breakfast staff really helpful with my coffee. Position excellent for the town. Close to restaurants and to riverside walks.

Fantastic communal areas and fantastic staff. However rooms a little small and a little dated in comparison. No kettle or fridge in room. I appreciated the water fountain on each floor however a fridge to cool purchased drinks would have been nice. Unfortunately our room also smelt of smoke. Parking was secure and convenient. Again, staff fantastic and could not do more! Jonathan on the front desk in particular was superb.

We took a standard double room with a view over the river. It was a bit cramped and another time I would book a larger one. Otherwise we had a very comfortable stay. The staff were very helpful. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice. The car park may seem expensive but it’s worth paying for the convenience of being part of the hotel in a town short of parking spaces. The car park entrance is in rue de la Vieille Grange, just past the hotel on the left as you drive along the quayside.

This is a good hotel in a great situation in Libourne. Good parking, great directions from staff for Bastille day road closures, nice welcome, nice modern room with comfy bed, walk in shower & good air con in a brilliant location, what more could you ask for. Was a stop off for us so didn’t use the hotel much other than for a sleep but would highly recommend at the reasonable pricing. Restored my faith in Mercure again!
