Staff so friendly especially D he was so helpful and interested in us. Rooms are good could do with some updating and some shade over the pool would be helpful for small children. Really enjoyed our stay and were always acknowledged by all staff . Thanks Team Mercure

Tiny resort on a budget for mainly stopovers

The Mercure is of course a budget choice. Good for us as a stopover. The infrastructure is old and could use an overhaul. But the primary aspects, a proper bed and hot shower was all we required. Ordering food definitely takes patience. Drinks are quick though. I can absolutely recommend the attached SPA: fair price and excellent quality. As we accidentally left something behind after checkout, the staff did search and got back to us quickly. Much appreciated (it turned up in a taxi, thanks to the honest driver!)

Downgrade - a sad state of a "budget" accomodation

My previous stay at this hotel earned a 3 star review..i am downgrading that to 1. Despite the staff still being the asset of the hotel (most that is) the property is a tired one and needs an upgrade on amenities and a paint-lift. I stayed in Room 302 and wondered if they should be selling this room at almost $300 FJD. Beds were old and mouldy, tv almost felt ancient and the room lacked maintenance-care basically. Under the bed were a whole different story - it was messy and had not been cleaned for a while...so i live with a sense of dissapointment thinking that this is the best they could offer their customers. 5 mins after checkout, the staff came knocking for my check-out reminder as if they wanted you out pronto..another came 5 mins later...the same disconnected at breakfast, I gave my name, room to the breakfast staff, checked and to breakfast i go only to be asked 5 mins later by another staff, for room number to be checked again. This checking system feels more like staff guarding the crown jewels than one to ensure a seamless enjoyable hustle free holiday stay... For a hotel brand chain that I am also a member of, I feel robbed of what i expect the Accor brand to be. But its coming to the Christmas.holidays, so maybe this will turn around in the new year...maybe...

Fabulous family-friendly environment

The staff were absolutely delightful. We had exceptional service and kindness from Semeli (he really went out of his way to help us). We also had help with our dietary requirements from the Restaurant Manager, 'D' (everyone calls me D--it's easier!) And Lea and others on the team were so helpful with serving our food, and always with a smile. The chef was outstanding, and she rose to the challenge (my tired brain sadly can't remember her name!). However, she found workarounds for our wheat and dairy intolerances, and Veganism, while preparing really tasty food for breakfast and dinner, and sometimes also lunch. They were in the process of making their menu more robust for food intolerances, and they were eager to both help me, and ask for feedback about their future plans. They were reassuring and helpful, and we ate well with delicious food, and no one got sick! Hopefully, in the near future, they will be able to offer more intolerant friendly food options and they will get a more secure supply chain for intolerance-friendly staples so they can make more options. We also indulged in an amazing on-site massage...excellent massage and good prices, in a lovely, relaxing, clean atmosphere. The ladies were welcoming and caring, and we had a lovely experience. The location was good regarding access to all the siteseeing opportunities, and they have a dedicated on-site tour coordinator. However, we wanted to do some activities, but do them our way, and none of the tours quite fitted us. So Semely was able to organise a cost-friendly taxi tour option, which put us in complete control. This was perfect for us. All in all, this was a wonderful stay, made so by the lovely staff at the Mercure, and by the clean and pleasant hotel environment. We would highly recommend a stay here (we were here for 4 nights). Disliked · We had a bad experience coming back from the town in a 'crazy' taxi...not the hotel's fault, but worth a 'heads up' to future travellers...He passed himself off as a legitimate taxi, but when we got in, there were no seatbelts in the back, and he was yelling at everyone, and generally terrified us (& I'm not easily scared). Next time, I would either ring the Mercure as book one to collect us when werw done, or ask one of the lovely locals at the doors to most large shops to help us find a safe one. Regarding the hotel, there was nothing we didn't like, but it will be even better when they have their new intolerance-friendly menu and educated staff (although D definitely knew his stuff!). It would be great if there were shade cloths over the pool, as we weren't able to use it during the hottest parts of the day as the UV was extreme. Also, it would be great if there was a way to lock and unlock the sliding back-doors from the outside on the ground floor rooms, so we didn't have to walk all the way around to get to the pool if no one was left in the room. This is not a long walk, but it would capitalise on the ease of being on the ground floor near the pool. Overall this was a fabulous place to stay, with the hotel staff being amazing, and the environment being clean, relaxed, safe and lovely.

The service from all DEPARTMENTS thru to rooms was a good and welcomed delight. May I say the welcome and advices given by Dhiraj ( Restaurant Supervisor ) was well above the greeting one gets …The various floor staff and all meals were of a high standard a credit to Mr J Work GENERAL MANAGER
