In case of late check-in (after midnight), the staff is quite helpless. If it weren't for the elder of our group, the check-in would have been delayed for a long time. There are no basic amenities in the bathroom. This is the first time I have come across such a strange layout. Boxing with breakfast (early check-out) is complete abuse: two croissants and that's it.

A typically average corporate hotel...but with excellent staff

The staff are the stars here. This hotel is similar to all others of this type. I generally dont like the corporate type of hotel but the staff here are friendly & helpful. The hotel is not great value, the rooms appear to be smaller than most but I enjoyed my stay here as the staff made me feel very welcome

Good stopping off place if heading off into deepest Europe from Cherbourg- it is about 1 hour 20 mins from harbour with easy access to Autoroute towards Rennes or ring-road heading towards Rouen/Paris. Free parking. Reception was really welcoming- we had arrived at 8.45 and were asked whether or not we wanted something to eat- would have kept restaurant open if we had. Room clean and functional. Bathroom a bit like a bathroom on a ship. Bed comfortable. Breakfast adequate- liked the tarte au pomme however! Gluten-free bread available on request. Free parking. Definitely one of the better Ibis hotels we have stayed when travelling in France.

Disappointing experience at Ibis Caen

We had booked a room for one night few days back but due to extreme weather warnings issued by meteo-france we decided to cancel our booking as the weather didn’t allow us to drive through it. We informed the hotel staff the minute we got the weather warning update and requested to cancel our booking though it was non refundable. He asked us to contact Booking.com to see if they could help us first as the booking was through their site. Booking.com when contacted was very helpful and said they had no problem with refunding for our booking and wrote an email to the said Ibis Caen. But the manager at this Ibis Caen refused to make any refund without understanding that it was beyond our control to reach their property through that severe weather. We re attempted to drive next day and were hit by 2 hours delay due to multiple vehicles slipping off the road in the aftermath of the heavy snow.

Good place to go if you have a car.

Very nice modern hotel. Being so near the highway was very good as we had rented a car to drive around the Normandy area. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast spread was good and ample. Would absolutely recommend if you have a car and want to visit Caen, Bayeux, D-Day historical site and the Normandy areas in general.
