We took an overnight stay on our way South from Cherbourg to Spain. Having stayed in numerous Ibis hotels before, including budget, we were not expecting much apart from a comfortable, safe and clean room with a good night sleep. I booked direct being an Accor All reward member. I checked their ‘regularly updated’ list of hotels not participating in the All rewards but this was not on the list. It was only after booking the room that I was notified that this hotel did not participate, I would have booked elsewhere had I known. We were aware that strangely, reception did not open until 5pm. This did not bother us as we anticipated arriving around 6pm. As it happened we were earlier than anticipated and turned up at 5pm just as the young lad receptionist was pulling up. Upon approaching the entrance we were surprised to see 3 pallets of tiles by the entrance door. The tiles coming into reception were cracked and dangerous. To the right of the reception right by the window were numerous cement bags piled high with a table upside down on top, propped up against the bags were, what looked like, counter tops. Just to the left of the reception desk, right in from was a pile of what can only be described as builders rubbish, contains pallets, a broom, half used paint or adhesive containers, tiles, empty cardboard boxes and a roll of insulation. We checked in ok and the lad on reception was friendly enough. Upon our way to our ground floor room we passed several rolls of vinyl and carpet stacked against the coffee machine. In the hallway to our room there were numerous new doors stacked against the walls which, in my opinion, was a safety hazard in case of fire or disabled / guests with mobility problems. The corridor and room also smelt strongly of cigarette smoke. My booking had confirmed a triple room on a high floor but we were placed on the ground floor. We could have gone back to reception to complain but were tired after travelling and the ferry trip so just wanted a shower and to grab something to eat. We went to the adjacent Buffalo Grill which was pleasant, good value for money and friendly. Upon returning to the hotel the smell was a bit better as we had left the window ajar to air the room out. The bed, shower etc was comfortable enough for a good night sleep. We had pre booked breakfast which we found to be very good and the morning receptionist/ breakfast lady was very friendly. As I had booked through Accor All, I would have expected at the very least that they would have warned that building work was taking place. I did email them to complain on 5th May, they replied on 8th May with a half hearted apology and basically washed their hands of any responsibility. They said that they had sent my file to the hotel as they were unable to answer my request ( there was no request, I just required an explanation) and the hotel would take charge and respond to me as soon as possible. Here we are 13 days later and no response from the hotel! I had stated that I would give them the opportunity to explain before making this rating but as they have not bothered, here we are!

I've stayed at several Ibis Budget, but this was by far the worst. Wi-Fi doesn't work, in fact, when talking to the receptionist, she showed that hers was working... If it works for the receptionist... maybe that's all that matters... Lots of ants in the room... as well as possible smaller insects in the bed, as I had several bite marks and itching on my hand. The bathroom is almost the size of a chemical toilet... tiny. One only positive thing is the location very close to a restaurant and shopping center... but even for the location, it's not worth the risk. Definitely avoid this hotel.

I've stayed at several Ibis Budget, but this was by far the worst. Wi-Fi doesn't work, in fact, when talking to the receptionist, she showed that hers was working... if it works for the receptionist... maybe that's all that matters... Lots of ants in the room (see the pictures)... as well as possible smaller insects in the bed, as I had several bite marks and itching on my hand. The bathroom is almost the size of a chemical toilet... tiny. One only positive thing is the location very close to a restaurant and shopping center... but even for the location, it's not worth the risk. Definitely avoid this hotel.

Standard Ibis budget hotel situated 10 km from Rennes and close to a highway. The breakfast was good. There is a Bufallo Grill restaurant nearby and Carrefour shopping center as well as Burger King fast food service facility. In general, the hotel and the services met my expectations.

I found the hotel better than expected for a budget hotel - my room was excellent, the staff very polite and helpful. It turned out to be very good for an overnight stop when travelling on business. I think that 200 words is a little over the top if you want people to respond to your questionnaire.
