I stayed at the Grand Mercure from Sunday till Friday for work. Staff are fantastic and speak a very good level of English. There was a queue at check-in that resulted in more staff serving customers. The gym is good but could do with an update and earlier opening. Sadly, one elevator was closed for maintenance and the remaining two elevators operated on two independent systems meaning it took often more than 15 minutes to get to my room or downstairs in absolutely packed elevators or using a non a/c fire staircase. This could have been easily avoided by accepting fewer bookings. A premium hotel works around the needs of its guests, not the other way round.

Food was gorgeous and the atmosphere was great. The only issue is the language, since the waitress only spoke Portuguese, but she made the job anyways. The meals were good in price and quantity, and the restaurant was just across the street from our hotel. I would definitely recommend this place for any visitor!

I was in Brasilia for business. This hotel was perfectly located but the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this hotel for all business travelers. The front desk and porters really go out of their way to accommodate your needs.

Good location but very noisy

The hotel is definitely ageing: although the interior decor is fine, you can tell as soon as you are in the lift, cracking, moving brutally and making noise. The room by itself was nice with a decent size bathroom but without any amenities like nail file or toothpaste provided. The balcony door did not lock properly so you could hear fairly well the noise from the street, day and night. No sound proof door so you can hear loudly the bell from the lift, people walking and discussion in the corridor to or from their rooms etc We had to sleep with earplugs, never a pleasure. Staff was nice and available, with a smile, and this was pleasant even when not sharing the same language, there is a good attitude. Need to be modernized otherwise I am afraid we won't be back.
