The entrance to this hotel is on a series of roads that is not exactly level. To get to the main shopping areas of Wellington, or the waterfront, guests need to descend to the ground floor in one lift, walk though the dining area, and then descend in another lift to the actual ground level. This lift will then take guests to a completely different roadway, at a lower level. This was explained thoroughly to me when I checked in. One other thing that was explained to me was that I received a free room upgrade. My thanks to the Novotel staff for that little surprise. This enabled me to have the views across the waterfront from my room. Just to make matters even better, not long after I had entered my room and unpacked, the extremely pleasant receptionist knocked on my door with a little gift of some rather large biscuits for me. I was so touched by this small act of kindness. The biscuits were of their appreciation to me for being a regular Accor Hotel member. It is these acts of kindness that stand out, never to be forgotten. My room rate included breakfast, which went down very well each morning.Having such a good breakfast meant that I had no need of anything overly substantial to eat until tea-time, of an evening. As the area where the hotel is situated has an abundance of cafes and restaurants, I did not eat my evening meal inside the hotel, so i cannot comment of their restaurant. I did, however enjoy a welcome drink in the bar, which was served to me by yet another extremely friendly staff member. Full marks to the hotel management for employing such friendly and efficient staff. They were all a credit to the hotel. If i find myself in Wellington again, this hotel would be my first choice.

The best rest during our tour of North Island NZ. Really lovely staff on reception, with special mention to Iziah Davis who was chatty and very helpful. Nice buffet breakfast and also, options for evening meal as the hotel is a little away from the eateries

Of all the hotels I have ever been in, this bed was the best! It was so comfy, I even looked what it was to buy one! And the pillows were just right. Really lovely staff on reception, smiley and chatty and helpful. Nice breakfast. The hotel is a little away from the eateries and as we walked back later in the evening it seemed a long way and very quiet. After speaking to the reception they said we should have used the lift at the back by the shops to the next hotel, and then just simply walk next door to ours! I wish they had put a notice in our room to tell us this! If I could change one thing I would say get rid of the curtains they are just the most hideous pattern.

The only saving grace of this hotel were the very friendly staff! The room was not what I would call clean, the carpet had marks all over it, the bathroom had seen better days, the house keepers need to learn how to make a bed, on my second night I was rather shocked to discover after a very restless night the night before and the bed a mess, they had only just pulled up the top and the bed was not actually made up as expected. Why would you deliver a knife and fork for breakfast when you ordered fruit and cereal? The air conditioning, a joke, had mine on 18 and cooling on full fan, yet the room was still extremely hot and unpleasant. Would never stay again

Stayed recently at Novotel Wellington and found it to be a solid choice. While the rooms are a bit dated, they’re very serviceable, with exceptionally comfortable beds and—most importantly—spotlessly clean throughout. The real standout, however, was the staff—friendly, professional, and always happy to help. At the price point, it’s great value. Would highly recommend.
