Was forced to pay twice

I booked this hotel online and clicked a 1am check in time as we had a flight connection and needed to sleep for a few hours. When I submitted my booking, the time changed to 3 pm. I immediately requested the 1am check in. I also called the property before clicking confirm and the receptionist Abby, said no problem, we can proceed to the property. I confirmed the booking and jumped in a taxi. When we arrived she refused to honor the check in time. She was incredibly rude, shaking her finger at me as I begged her to make an exception and not force us to pay twice. She refused and because it was so late and we had no time to find another place? we had to pay a second time. So I paid twice for the same room that was vacant. I’ve requested a refund twice and I haven’t heard a word back. Horrible customer service and completely unreasonable in my eyes as the hotel had nothing to loose by honouring our request.
