Great view from room but that’s where it stops. Conversations and worse , bathroom noise, was clearly heard from adjoining rooms. Service from staff was friendly from most but some (bar and dining) was a little surly). San Sebastián is a wonderful place to stay and similar views could be found from alternative accommodation - take that instead.

Four day break at iconic hotel

The view is breathtaking. The hotel is clean and the staff generally are very helpful. The balcony for our privilege room enabled us to enjoy the panorama. Apart from slow service at the bar everything else was outstanding including the roof top swimming pool and decking.

However, we apologize for the slower service you experienced at our bar. While we always aim to deliver prompt service, it seems we fell short during your visit. We understand the importance of efficient service and appreciate your patience. Nonetheless, we are pleased to know that the rooftop swimming pool and decking added to the enjoyment of your stay. Breathtaking views, but rooms, service and wifi can be improved

The views from San Sebastian Hotel are breathtaking and absolutely unbeatable. The reception staff were nice and friendly, making us feel welcome. The rooms were pleasant, clean, and also offered stunning views. However, the bar staff’s behavior was disappointing. They frequently appeared disgruntled and were arguing amongst themselves, especially during busy periods. It was evident that a new staff member was being trained, but the existing staff seemed impatient and stressed while instructing her. This lack of professionalism was noticeable and somewhat off-putting for guests. Additionally, the WiFi was horrible, making it difficult to stay connected. The walls were very thin; we could hear our neighbor’s TV (on the side of the wall not next to our bed) up until 1 AM. Overall, while the views and reception service were excellent, the experience at the bar, the WiFi quality, and the noise levels could use significant improvement.

We booked his hotel and then started reading reviews about how terrible this hotel was. Fortunately it is nowhere as bad as the reviews state. Staff have been very good though often very busy! (Maybe understaffed?) good food and wine especially the breakfast buffet. Rooms are old but clean. Bed and pillows comfortable. We didn’t need the a/c while here. We received our welcome drinks. Small but adequate wine list

Fantastic location but that’s all that is good. Left the bar after sending a meal back twice as it was cold (very). Did not bother to eat. Hot breakfast self service from a cold slab, didn’t work! Regular Mercure customer, this is not up to their normal standards. We are looking for another hotel to spend the rest of our trip. Have to say I have never given a review like this before.
