A Magical Stay During our Trip

Of the three hotels we stayed at during our time in Egypt, Old Cataract was our favorite. Steeped in history and well maintained, the hotel and its staff far exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed roaming the lush grounds and loved the views. The property is well lit at night and has a romantic resort vibe. Marvel and Mohra greeted us at check in. Our room wasn't quite ready, and so we went and relaxed by the pool. Marvel came personally to find us at the pool and guide us to our suite which was just stunningly beautiful. The bed was the most comfortable I've enjoyed at a hotel in a long time and the view from our balcony was unmatched. The water pressure was great in the room and the bathroom has every amenity you could need in little boxes. There was turndown service and the room was well stocked with free water. At night we loved to sit outside and listen to the quiet snatches of music and the sounds of the Nile. It was peaceful and Aswan was our favorite city we visited. Marvel was a gem - we missed the Agatha Christie tour both nights we were there due to our tours running late and she let us join a special one for a tour bus that had come our final night. She was extremely knowledgeable about the hotel and funny, we really enjoyed her. We appreciated all the little touches the hotel provided to ensure our stay was just spectacular. Every meal was great - we primarily ate at the Egyptian restaurant and each night was Nubian music which we really liked. Breakfast was in the main restaurant and it was amazing to see how well it has been maintained all these years. We wished we could have spent a lot more than two nights and we are hopeful we can make it back someday.

Great High Tea experience

We visited for High Tea and had a wonderful time. The setting, on the veranda overlooking the Nile, was comfortable and the servers were friendly and attentive. The tea was delicious and plentiful, and the sweets were delightful. Best Creme Brulee' so far in Egypt.

The hotel is breathtaking, service is just spectacular and staff are so helpful, we joined the tour at 4pm was amazing.

Our experience at Old Cataract Hotel was fabulous staff are charming we joined the Tour with Batch she was amazing, and once we entered the hotel we were greeted by Marvel she was so professional and speaks Chinese perfectly that made us feel comfortable and excited.

Classic luxury in a magnificent setting! This hotel is as fine a hotel as you will find in Egypt. The service, the rooms, the pool the grounds, all are beautiful. You MUST have a room that faces the Nile. The views are spectacular. Be sure to take the Daily hotel tour that include the Churchill and Christie suites

We loved our stay at this beautiful, historic hotel. Nile views are beautiful, our room was nicely furnished, and the Agatha Christie tour with Miss Marvel was fun. Our dinner in 1902 did not disappoint. We wondered if it would be worth packing “formal” wear to dine there, and it certainly was.
