My experience at Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort was a mix of highs and lows during the recent Farm Owners Conference. Let's break it down. Firstly, the location and overall facilities were decent. The resort grounds were well-maintained, and the conference facilities were adequate for our needs. It was convenient having everything in one place for the conference sessions. However, the accommodation left much to be desired. The room I stayed in was frankly disappointing. It was not up to the standard I expected from a Novotel. The cleanliness was subpar, and there were issues that made the room less than comfortable. One of the highlights, surprisingly, was the gala dinner night. Despite my dietary restrictions not being properly communicated, there was a gentleman named Khan who went above and beyond to assist me. He ensured I got a suitable meal, despite it not being on the dietary list. Khan's kindness and helpfulness stood out and made the evening much more enjoyable. On the other hand, the experience at Sola Bar was a letdown. The menu options were limited, and the quality of the food was disappointing. Most items seemed to be frozen and deep-fried, which was not what I expected from a place associated with a resort of this caliber. Overall, while the conference itself was productive and the resort had its positives, such as the beautiful location and dedicated staff like Khan, improvements are needed in certain areas like room cleanliness and food quality at the bar.

The resort is located about 10 minutes from the Sunshine Coast airport and about 20 minutes drive from Mooloolaba. Upon entering the resort we felt like we were in Bali, entrance portico was welcoming with nice big water features on either side. The staff were super friendly on arrival, the lobby is super spacious with lots of lounge areas and a big bar and outdoor alfresco decking area looking over the pool. I must say the distance to the rooms was a long walk with suitcases. I thought they may have offered us the option to go by buggy. But no. Luckily our rooms were on the ground floor because they only have stairs no lifts. Also the walk to the bar and restaurant was very dark at night and a little scary for my daughter. The other issue is if it rains you have to meander your way from your room under the balconies of a couple of wings to the restaurant and bar facilities which felt very awkward. We booked the lagoon view rooms which were a little on the small side and super out dated. After coming from Mantra Sirocco Mooloolaba we were very disappointed. The pool area is nice however the pool is not heated and quite cool. The spa is mildly warmer and could do with more temperature. I must say I thought the lagoon was the ocean in the picture however it’s not, only a lake. The bar area is nice with the outdoor alfresco area. The bar staff are some friendly and good to chat with. It looks like they are progressively updating the resort, the work they have done so far looks good. The restaurant very old and the menu very basic. This resort is good for people who like a quiet experience and nothing too fancy. We prefer a little more action and a better food selection. I think we were the loudest people in the bar which maybe annoying for some. Overall the staff provide the best experience with what they have, they just need to offer buggy to room which will make it easier and update the rooms.

Terrible bed paid $325 for a slab of concrete to sleep on. Staff showed no care when it was pointed out and manager Said she knows but obviously doesn’t care. I will never stay Here again and as I had no sleep and aches from the bed. DONT STAY ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE PRICES.

This delightful Sunshine Coast resort is beautifully appointed and staffed by professional attentive staff. The facilities are excellent and the food service is top notch. We will go back when next we visit the Sunshine Coast.

I am writing this just to give a heads up to others. It seems most other reviews are the same as what I had experienced. We chose to come here from having time in Noosa which turned out to be a mistake! The place looks welcoming and grand, but appearances can be deceptive. The room was tired, sliding exterior bedroom door didn't close properly and we had a stormy night where wind and rain were a problem. TV remote was dodgy and turned on both tv's simultaneously. Uncomfortable old sofas in room. Light not working in main room. Room service expensive and not adequate sized meal. Food was luke-warm to cold for breakfast buffet, quite concerning health wise! No advertising of omelettes being available until we saw someone with one and asked, they were making them fresh. Would have been nice to know this! Dinner menu was inadequate apart from one meal special of buffalo wings and truffle fries (fantastic). Mini golf- a few holes in a bit of lawn!! Really? Staff looked sad and disinterested, a few exceptions who were friendly and helpful. Pool simply doesn't work, overrun by kids not controlled by parents and spa is a nightmare. The only positives were 2 free drinks each night on our package, Lake walk is lovely. The aim is to have an all inclusive space for a holiday but it had no heart or love within. Would not return.
