New Year Trip

Stayed here with my partner for three nights around New Year. We flew into Basel Airport and then got the train up to Mulhouse, which takes around 25 minutes. The hotel is located directly across from the main station entrance, so within 5 minutes we were at reception. We arrived around midday so were too early to check-in, so they tagged our bags and we were able to do so once we returned back later in the day. For some reason they only thought the room was one for person, but they checked us both in without problem. We were given one of their Privilege rooms which was located on the fourth floor. This meant we got additional benefits including a Nespreso machine, complimentary soft drinks provided in the fridge and chocolate coated pretzels (a local speciality). There was also a robe and slippers provided for one person only, following on from the earlier confusion at reception. I had to double check the booking to make sure, I had not made an error, and it clearly stated two people, so no idea why their system said otherwise. The room was a good size and overlooked the Square du General de Gaulle and the main station. It was well decorated and clean, and whilst it had a good amount of hanging space for clothes, it did not offer any drawer space for smaller items. In addition to the Nespresso machine and fridge there was a kettle with tea and coffee provided, a safe and a high spec TV which offered a wide range of local and international channels. The bathroom was also in excellent condition, with a powerful shower and new towels provided daily. We had breakfast each day in the restaurant-bar and were generally pleased with what was offered. There was a wide range of hot and cold items, as well a high-quality coffee machine. For the first two days of our stay it appeared there were not many guests in the hotel so it was quite quiet at breakfast, however a large party had arrived on New Years Eve so the next day it was difficult to find a space to sit (mainly due to all of them coming down for breakfast at the same time). The hotel is dog-friendly which we do not usually mind, but we were surprised at breakfast one morning to see one owner allowing a dog to sit next to her on a chair whilst it was fed! The hotel is very well located for the historical centre of Mulhouse, which is only a 10-minute walk away. There a good range of shops and eating and drinking places, though we found a lot of the local bars and restaurants seemed to close down for the festive period. Whilst we found places to eat in each night (and pre-booked a New Year's Eve dinner at a local restaurant), the place was a ghost town in the evenings. We could not even find a bar open for a pre-dinner drink on New Year's Eve and had to return to the hotel, where we were able to order two (very good) Aperol Spritz. Being close to the station meant that it was easy to do day trips away from Mulhouse during our stay, and we visited Colmar, Freiburg in Germany, and Basel in Switzerland, with all of them being less than an hour away by train. The excellent tram network also starts from the station and we took it to visit the National Automobile Museum which is apparently one of the largest car museums in the world and well worth a visit. We enjoyed our three days at the Mercure Mulhouse Centre Hotel- it was good value for money, well maintained and in an excellent location.

Excellent experience. Great service and gentle staff and cool guys at reception. Big spacious rooms and very clean. Close to central station and also really close to the city center. For sure we will be back . Thank you Mercure Mulhouse center for making our first trip to Mulhouse unforgettable. John & Rosa

This hotel is very good and with a great location just across from the station and also close to the centre of the city. It seems to have been renovated recently and the room I got was comfortable and had a good bed. The staff were friendly. There was some traffic that went past in the evening that was loud but it quietened down well.

Lovely hotel across from Train Station and only 5-10 minute walk to the Old town centre. Nice size room and bathroom, and early check in after an early train arrival was much appreciated. The room was a little cold for our liking, we tried changing the temp control but didn't seem to do much.

The hotel is in an excellent location, close to every central place, with easy access to the train, tram or the city center. There is parking nearby and convenient parking at the hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. (The hotel is not new, but this does not detract from the comfort and stay). The quality of the beds and sleep is very good. The service of the staff is exceptional, courteous and pleasant. Special thanks to Mr. SAMIR, the nice guy from the reception
