General speaking this hotel was up to standard of what to expect when staying at a Mercure. Nice breakfast, clean rooms and dito atmosphere. It went a bit wrong on our first day. We left the hotel by 10am, returned by 1pm to find that our room hadn't been serviced yet. No worries, there's still time... When we returned by 6pm, it still wasn't done. They were, by then working on the room next to ours. Thinking that ours would be next, we kinda hurriedly went down to the lobby to allow the staff to do their magic. Only to find that nothing happened at all No made up bed, no dirty crockery removed, no refill of the complimentary mini bar,... Contact with the person in the lobby changed little but not much. Staff seemed a little helpless at times, especially the younger (students?). Everyone has to learn sometimes but maybe the training should be a bit more thorough? Overall not a bad experience but disappointing

26 degrees and AC is switched off and can’t be used. No solutions offered except open the window. Seriously ?

Location is great, very conveniently located near the town centre. On site parking is great also, easy to access and up to that point everything was great. It was a warm sunny day, with a room facing the sun, 26 degrees in the room at 10pm - windows open trying to cool things down. Hotel can not and will not do anything, ruining what otherwise would potentially be a pleasant stay here. I realise some people are more used to warmer temperatures- I can’t sleep in 26 degree heat and right now am seriously contemplating sleeping in my car.

The Good: Staff was friendly, courteous and responsive, 100% Class A Staff. The Bad: This hotel is nothing like what is advertised on the Accor App. The listing is deceptive and prices are ridiculous for a hotel of this Level 1. The picture of the Hotel on it's listing is a picture of the local palace downtown NOT in any way affiliated with or attached to the Hotel. The hotel is in a good location near all downtown sites, but it looks nothing like the picture in the listing 2. This hotel claims to be a four star hotel that is just waiting for final certification of their rating. If this is true the McDonalds must also be waiting for their Michelin Star. This hotel is at best a standard hotel more similar to a Ibis, or Holiday Inn Express, but charging four star Mercure prices. 3. View from the window was of a dreary courtyard with trash 4. Breakfast was good food, but very Chaotically presented. Again, this was more similar to a Ibis or Holiday in Express breakfast, NOT anywhere near the four star experience advertised. Overall Staff was very nice, everyone was doing their best, and I enjoyed my stay. But my intent was to spend one night with my family at a really nice hotel on the last day of our vacation. I instead spent 4 star money for a Ibis/Holiday Inn Experience.

Very good location, only a few minutes walk to Stanislas square, the pedestrian zone, and a large park; lots of shops and restaurants in the area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking is in a garage next to the hotel. Hotel is dog-friendly. I would stay here again.

My wife and I stayed one night in the Mercure Nancy Centre Place Stanislas on our way to Switzerland and we had also booked one night there for the return journey. We have stayed in more hotels than I could possibly remember, including Mercure hotels so I was surprised when my wife said this was the worst hotel I had every booked for her! But let’s start with the good features. Its position close to the city centre makes it ideal for a city stopover. It’s just a short walk to Place Stanislas and all the restaurants and sights. The other great facility is the car parking: it has its own underground park right opposite the hotel side entrance. The rest was pretty poor. The feature that appalled my wife was that the toilet was in a room so small that it was impossible – and I do mean literally impossible – to sit on it and close the door! The hotel management must know this and yet they go on letting this room. That complacency is unforgivable. Checkin was curious. It involved a very long process conducted by a cheerful but apparently quite untrained person perched on the end of a table with a laptop. How come? The Mercure have a professional reservation system so what was this chap using? He also had a queue of annoyed people waiting to check in behind me. If I had been one of them I would have been annoyed, too. Eventually he walked me across to the lift and configured my room key using a gadget on the wall at the foot of the stairs. Crazy! The breakfast restaurant is too small for the capacity of the hotel. The choice was fine and we were early in the restaurant so we had a place to sit. It soon filled up and although two young people were busy replenishing the servery, no one at all was on hand to supervise the situation. It seems there’s something very odd going on at the Mercure Stanislas Nancy. One final point. There’s several angry reviews here about the hotel taking additional charges on guests’ bank cards. They aren’t actually doing that; they are holding an additional amount on their bank cards in case of additional charges. This is a practice adopted by hotels for many years. However, it is in my opinion no longer an acceptable practice in an age of instant bank alerts, without at least explaining to guests exactly what to expect. Certainly, the Holiday Inn don’t do that to me. We cancelled our return booking.
