We drive South through France to Spain for Christmas and the New Year and this hotel is our second stop in France. It is well located as we drive into town and is convenient for the Christmas Fair. It is clean, warm and comfortable but the (English?) man on reception wasn’t very friendly. Breakfast is very good but, this time, the hotel parking was closed so I parked in the nearby underground parking, €20!

I booked at the last minute (on the day/ due to a change of plans). On the booking it said it was a room overlooking a courtyard and park, but it didn't have this view, but no matter. Despite being on the road side, though set far back, it was totally quiet due to double, double glazing (2 lots of openable windows). I was impressed with this Ibis/ the ground floor and an outside area are very spacious and pleasant. There is a quality ping pong table with faux leather net and a few other entertainment type things. Breakfast was fine, and a lady was topping things up and tidying/ she seemed very efficient. The room was a nice size, much bigger than a regular ibis and the bathroom was very good too/ air con was good (efficient and fairly quiet), in roasting hot, July! Bed was large and comfy. The room has a double door IE between the entrance door and bedroom door, with the bathroom to the side inbetween - this is such a great idea, and I've only seen this in 2 other hotels i've stayed in, one of which was an Ibis, in Lisbon. I'd certainly consider staying again / a very reasonable price too. The reception girl was very nice (I checked in at about 10.30pm on Wednesday evening), and spoke perfect English (I can speak a bit of French, but she immediately spoke English to me). It's a 12 to 15 min walk from the station, but there were some taxi's about, if you have lots of luggage, so you could always do that. When I checked out, neither of the receptionists looked up (..as I was about to place my card in a box on the reception counter) / only when I asked a question (about the quickest route to the station), did they look up. If someone approaches, it ought to be instinctive to look up and see what you can do for them (I also wanted to say 'thank you' and 'goodbye'). Anyway, that's a minor negative/ overall, a good stay, they did a nice job with the building.

Really good base for visiting Perpignan, only a short walk from the train station and a 10-15 minute walk in to the city centre. Very reasonably priced despite being fully booked with rugby fans. Comfortable bed which made for a good sleep. Buffet breakfast could maybe do with a few more options, but if you can’t make a breakfast out of coffee, orange juice, pastries, meat & cheese then you’re in the wrong country!

Although we had been staying in expensive hotels, Ibis' service was very good and anticipated the needs of their typical clientele. The design was, in the best sense, functional and efficient. The few staff provided all that was needed and did it with a smile.

The hotel has its own secure parking 11 Euro and is in a good location in the centre of Perpignan. We were given a 'family' room which was large but the bed was pushed against the wall. The breakfast wasn't as good as at Vierzon, no fresh orange juice and no eggs.
