Overall, the hotel seemed clean, staff were friendly. But the room itself was very warm. I had read recent reviews that mentioned this - hot rooms and no way to turn on the air conditioning. This is a big thing to me, so I made a note when booking that I need a cool room with working AC. I called the day before my stay to ask if the hotel’s AC was working and was told that the issue was not in all rooms. And upon check-in, I asked for a cool room with AC. All that, and when I opened my door, I was blasted with warmth. When I tried the thermostat, the fan came on, and stayed on constantly for my two-day stay, which helped a bit, but the overall temperature never changed. I have stayed in lots of hotels, and no matter the season, I have been able to change my room temperature to my comfort level, and this was not the case, though it should have been. The room’s fridge was not working either, which led to some spoiled food after I’d saved part of my dinner. And my final disappointment was the pool. Perhaps it is mentioned somewhere on the hotels site, but I went for a swim and got into the pool in the shallow end, and started walking towards what I assumed was the deep end, but no. The entire pool is the same depth, only 3 feet, 8 inches (1.1 metres), so not the relaxing swim I’d planned. So while the location was good, the amenities need improvement.

We stayed one night at the Novotel, North York April 4th and got no sleep. The room was a hot box with no AC. All the hotel rooms were the same, as other patrons were complaining as well. I now see on other reviews that it has been a problem for a couple of weeks with promises from the hotel that it would be addressed. We had a heavily panting German shepherd with us who had to be taken outside in the middle of the night to cool down. They know there is a temperature issue with the hotels' rooms and still rented us a "pet friendly" room anyway. It was not! They should stay in the hot box wearing a fur coat. When checking out, the desk Clerk apologized and promised to upgrade me our next stay. Probably his standard farewell upon checking out guests. Greg E

There is no manager, no customer service to resolve an issue as they charged my credit card two deposits for a total of 300, plus a hold for 600 for the two nights. I ended up transferring another 1000 to my visa in order to be able to pay since no one in reception resolved my issue, their issue actually.

This is my top pick for stays in Toronto. The staff were absolutely delightful, the event catering was beyond delicious, the venue was surprising with beautiful architectural details, the rooms were large, the view was spectacular, the bed was just the right amount of firm and soft, the bathroom didn't have a tub but was large and comfortable none the less. The hotel is connected to a mall that is accessible without going outside. That is connected to the subway, making the whole city accessible through a couple of doors. I cannot say enough about the staff, they were so attentive and friendly. And the Breakfast Buffet is something to behold! I didn't even share all the pictures here. It is massive with endless freshly prepared options. I HIGHLY recommend The Novotel Toronto North York and the Breakfast Buffet!
