Wonderfully elegant hotel. As the historic plaque out front notes, Le Scribe was built in 1861 as part of the new Opéra district. It almost immediately attracted renowned writers, such as Marcel Proust and Julies Verne. The hotel's exterior has complex wrought-iron railings and neo-classical touches. The interior mixes 19th century and Art Deco. My room was spacious and beautifully furnished. The Nespresso machine helped me wake up in the morning, before heading down to the beautiful breakfast, that includes marvelous cheeses, salmon, charcuterie, and fabulous breads and croissants. You can get eggs to order, though I didn't. We had afternoon tea in the glass-roofed Lumière restaurant. Very pretty and reasonably price. Just one downside, a big one at the time: I arrived in Paris March 7, the day of huge demonstrations. Without a word to passengers, CDG airport shut down all entrances but one--a terminal far from where I landed. No taxis. My Uber driver couldn't help me. Despite pleas from my Parisian-based friend Le Scribe was no help either. Took me hours to navigate my way out of the airport. Their position: Rien ne peut être fait.

My fiancee and I had a great time, and we're happy to have chosen Sofitel Le Scribe in Opera for our time in Paris. 1. The staff- everyone at the hotel, the receptionist, baggage helper, breakfast waiter/waitress, housekeeper, and manager were always smiling, paying attention to the guests for their needs. Such great hospitality at the reception desk, and Mr. Abdul handled our check-in process neatly and nicely! 2. Room: The room has probably the best bed mattress you could ever ask for. We slept comfortably during our stay because the Sofitel mattress is well-known for comfort and ease. The room has a thermostat to control the temperature quickly. The bathroom was also immaculate, and the shower (waterfall and showerhead) has a decent water pressure that you can also change the pattern of the water from the showerhead. 3. Housekeeping: The housekeeper came by twice a day to ensure there was anything they could refill or clean in the afternoon while we were out in the city. 4. Extra service as an American Express guest: We booked through AmexTravel with my Amex Platinum card, which provides a wide variety of benefits, including a room upgrade, early/late-check-in&out, if available, and a complimentary wine bottle with fruits and other benefits. So great to see the hotel doing its best to keep the customer happy and satisfied. 5. Breakfast: We are usually picky about breakfast, and there was nothing we could find to complain about. A wide selection of food, very fresh salmon and mushrooms and croissants, and the best thing was a variety of fresh juice, lemon, mango&carrots, orange, etc., a lot of freshly pressed juices! Not only that, honey is literally a honeycomb you can scoop! It was very fresh and fabulous! The staff at breakfast was top-notched, and we felt like we were at a luxury restaurant served by a professionally trained waiter/waitress. Overall experience was 9.9/10, and we recommend anyone looking to stay at a hotel where they want to be treated with dignity and respect. The staff is always doing their best to make your stay memorable! P.S. We had a minor issue, which was mainly my fault. The staff and the management team reacted so quickly that I am so satisfied with their response and solution. Mr. Etienne Cadet, we greatly appreciate your professional manner and courteous move to solve the issue. Kudos to the guest relations team and the management team for making it easier and better in a timely manner!

We stayed at the Scribe for three nights in a suite room. The location is fantastic very central and rooms are refurbished and comfortable. Breakfast is very nice and concierge service is very good. there were some aspects that did not meet our full satisfaction. The frigobar in the room did not close well, the door was always half open- drinks were never cold. In the bathroom the magnifying mirror was mounted so high that you need a ladder to see yourself in it (and I'm not so very small). Bathroom amenities were Balmain whereas on the ad and on the reservation it was marked Hermes (that has a fresher scent). When checking out we were under time pressure but the receptionnist had to check everything was paid despite we swiped the credit card with a guarantee higher than the real amount of our stay. You can't accept this from a 5 star hotel and in a suite. Next time will will not go for a suite

Beautiful property. Neatness and excelence all around. The rooms impecable and comfortable. Great bed. Nice bathroom. The staff is great helpful and very kind. Conviently located close yo lafayette opera and vendome. Breakfast top quality. Only thing to improve is the restaurant recommendations from concierge that do not match the hotel excellence

Beautiful hotel in a superb location with an amazing staff. From the minute we walked in, the staff made us feel like their only customer. The rooms are well appointed and clean. Very comfortable. Only 10 minute walk to many attractions in Paris.
