stayed here 1 night during a WWII tour. Room was ok, and the breakfast/dinner buffet options were average. Could be that ordering off the menu would have been better but no English menus were available and we didn't have access to a translator to quickly make decisions (Google and Apple translate are good but when you're trying to make a quick decision it's tough to go over the entire menu - could have been operator error too...). I would say the staff at the front-desk was very nice, but the staff at the restaurant seemed put out with trying to field questions from our group. They probably knew that 35 of us were going to be there on this tour, and all were Americans, so it may have been a good idea to have someone who could bridge the language-barrier gap, but that wasn't the case. Seemed like we got sideways looks when asking for unreasonable items like katsup and salt/pepper, but could have just been lost in translation. Not sure I'd stay here again if I were going through the area on my own.

On arrival there is plenty parking. We were warmly greeted. On arrival in our room the smell was so bad that we automatically turned around and left the room. It was a mixture of cigarette smoke and perhaps damp? It was swiftly resolved and our new room was better although it had a damp smell. I thought that the breakfast was brilliant. There is really something for everyone. It’s beautifully presented and tasted great. Checkout was a little strange as it took well over ten mins to check me out, although they did not explain why.

Stayed one night in a quadruple room. Good location for attending a match at the stadium. Parking is free

Small basic rooms. Location is okayish if you are going to the stadium or airport. Reception lady can’t speak English. Patrick at reception deserves to take 5 stars, he is helpful, fluent in English and knowledge and familiar with the area around the hotel.

Excellent bedroom but visit ruined by lack of restaurant…with no advance warning

We regularly stay at a Novotel near Calais when returning from a holiday in France. The bedrooms tend to be clean and comfortable with secure parking. This proved to be the case here….but….on arrival I asked if we needed to make a reservation for the restaurant only to be told it was closed “but only for the week.” This was no good for us as we were there for one night and we hoped to have a meal following a 9 hour drive. To make it clear, Novotels tend to be on business parks on the outskirts of a city and I didn’t want the inconvenience of driving somewhere. We were told there was an Italian restaurant a few minutes walk away. We went, only to discover something that looked run down and wasn’t scheduled to open for another couple of hours. There was also a McDonalds- but I never go there. Luckily, we found a place to pick up a sandwich, but that was it ! If we had been warned on booking or in advance of arrival we would have gone somewhere else. A real let down

Stayed here for a one night stop over on the way to Italy. The room was fine, all be it basic. The bathroom was lovely, newly refurbished but the separate toilet didn’t seem to have been. Plenty of parking. The pool was quite small, much smaller than we thought it looked from the pictures. There was lots of outdoor space for children to run off some energy although maybe a small park would make a difference here. The room had a strange damp smell and there was multiple flies we had to chase out when we arrived. Also asked for some additional pillows and were told the limit was 4 per room so we didn’t have the most comfortable sleep. All in all, good for a one night stop over.
