We have been coming to this hotel for nearly 30 years. Sometimes we use it as a stopover for travelling further south because it is so conveniently situated. On some of our other visits we have stayed for over a week to go climbing in the forest of Fontainebleau. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable, although could perhaps benefit from an update. The restaurant has improved over the last few years and I like the ‘suggestions de jour’. However, the jewel in the crown for this hotel is without doubt the staff. The staff who have worked there for many years recognise us and greet us most warmly. We speak a little bit of French, but the receptionists on the desk can usually manage some English too, to help explain things. On our last visit (this month) we had a small problem in the restaurant on our first night. I explained what had happened to Julie on reception and she very promptly sorted this out for us, quickly and to our benefit. The following evening, an excellent waiter made sure we were well looked after. (I’m sorry I don’t know his name but he was working on September 16th) All of the bar staff and restaurant staff were most pleasant and many thanks to Julie. We look forward to our next visit.

Really disappointing. Definitely not a 4 star hotel - very shabby and photos bear no resemblance to reality. Rooms and hotel in serious need of repair never mind cosmetic work. Limited choices in the restaurant although good except of the profusion of flies. Stayed here 12 years previously and it was fine. It was busy but suspect that it is chosen for convenience and proximity to the motorway.

Staff are always welcoming and friendly. Breakfasts are also very good. I would like to see more freshly cooked food and choice on the dinner menu. We didn’t use the pool but probably would if we had more time.

Agree with other reviews that this hotel is in a secluded location, with plenty of ouside activity. The staff are very helpful, special mention Magali! The building is dated and in need of refurbishment.

We stayed the night, the hotel was comfortable and we enjoyed having dinner in the garden. The room was clean and comfortable but the air conditioning was not cool enough so we had to open the window (otherwise it would have been 5 stars) and slept reasonably well. Service at the restaurant was good. After checking out, we had an accident in the forest nearby and since none of the pharmacies were opened on Sunday, we decided to return to Novotel for help. Rayan who was at the reception helped us with first aid and then called the pompier which took us to the hospital. The amazing thing was Rayan didn't know that we had stayed the night, and we were very impressed that help was quickly and kindly offered to potentially non clients. We would like to thank Rayan and Novotel for their kind help.
