Worst experience ever !!!

Our nightmare began 2 days before our intended stay. Our son's insulin pump started playing up ! Then if things couldn't get any worse, we had a tyre blow-out on the motorway !  Now stranded in rural France. We collectively made a calculated decision to cancel our booking with the full knowledge that we were protected with booking.com"s "FREE CANCELLATION" policy My wife then spent hours on the phone contacting the hotel & booking.com in order to confirm the cancellation of our forthcoming stay, & to explain the seriousness of our son's medical emergency ! With repeated promises that everything would be resolved in our favour. Then upon returning to the UK the real nightmare began !!! The Hotel took payment for the no-show, & subsequently charged us for the half board meals that we had not partaken of ! Stating that our booking was a "non refundable" booking, which was untrue ! Dumbfounded & flabbergasted !!! We immediately contacted the Accor group who are the parent company of Novotel hotels. Also contacting booking.com. With the Accor group saying "As our situation was one of a medical emergency. We would 100% receive a full refund" With the hotel now choosing to ignore all communication/messages & emails sent by us/Accor & booking.com ! With our money now  gone !!!  We've followed  booking.com's advice, in opening a dispute with our credit card company. What's shocks us the most beyond that of monetary loss. Is the Hotel's total lack of sympathy, support, compassion, & kindness surrounding our medical emergency & near catastrophic Motorway incident ! Hence my advice to everyone. Is to find an alternative hotel. One that has the ability to express "Good will"  A hotel that doesn't show by it's actions, that it's only interested in your money, whilst giving nothing in return !!!  My review joins the 100's of dissatisfied & disgruntled customers ! Reading other reviews, I see many have had similar nightmares !!! Regards to all fellow travellers. Lord w & family

My stay at this hotel was a nightmare from the moment we walked in. The lobby had an unpleasant smell, and things only went downhill from there. The room was in a deplorable state, with stains on the carpet, dirty bed linens, and an unclean bathroom. It felt more like a run-down motel than a hotel. In fact, the conditions were so appalling that we had to leave and book another hotel. The only glimmer of hope was when the receptionist lady promised a refund, but our hopes were shattered when Expedia reached out, and the hotel heartlessly refused to honor that promise. This was a truly regrettable experience. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!

Not bad hotel all in all! But avoid if you are English as you will be treated like dog excrement! The rudest staff I have ever encountered OLIVIA is of particular note, just blatantly rude and obnoxious and obviously has a major problem with English

I had booked a room with 3 beds on hotel.com as my 2 step daughters cannot sleep in the same bed but we didn’t receive what we booked & despite raising this 4 times, nothing was done. Also room wasn’t cleaned, air con didn’t work, toilet door handle was broken, daughter got stuck in the toilet and was upset. Requested complimentary a breakfast on the second day as they hadn’t supplied the room we had booked, but when we went to have the breakfast at 0945, all the food was gone and the restaurant manager was rude and unhelpful. This was terrible customer service from a big known hotel chain. I tried to email them twice before I left this review but they never responded to my emails.

The hotel is apparently rated as 4 star but quite frankly it doesn’t deserve any stars. The hotel is neglected and tired, in need of a much needed renovation and change of personnel! On arrival, there are a number of steps and no accessible option with luggage, which is odd. On entering you are met with a strange smell, which appeared to be a feature rather then a one off, and no designated reception. The stairway was thread bare and worn out carpet, not a little bit, but large sections. The rooms themselves are tired and badly maintained. For example, where there has been some form of maintenance it has been poorly done, leaving obvious patches. The bathroom furniture is stained and very old. There is a damp smell within. The temperature of the room was unbearable, too hot, even when the heating was turned off. The room was not very clean, the windows were dirty, as were mirrors. There is no thought as to location or adequacy of plugs for charging. They only provide the basic shampoo, conditioner and gel, no shower caps, slippers, etc. The bed linen was not clean and on day one we noticed a blood stain (fresh) on a pillow case - we assume that it was not changed from the previous occupants. The towels are thin and threads coming out, plus we were never given enough towels. Also, the walls are incredibly thin and you can hear everything from the neighbouring rooms (in all directions!) as well as the corridors. The sofa bed creaks and makes noises in every movement and is incredibly uncomfortable! We did not take breakfast at the hotel or have any other meals there so cannot comment on the state of the food. The staff are unapproachable. For the few days we were there, we were never greeted on arrival or departure.
