Good Location - Mixed Experience

The hotel was easy to find with GPS (but not well sign posted, which helps) and close to the motorway. It was clearly busy with customers when we arrived at 8.30pm. Check-in was swift and friendly. we had booked two prestige rooms. Both were recently renovated, of a good size with nice bathrooms. One of them stank (a horrible fish smell), likely the glue that had been used to stick the carpet. We'd opened the window (-1C outside!), hoping to let the smell out whilst we were at dinner. It hadn't had any real effect by the time we returned. Unfortunately, at 10pm there was nobody around reception and I gave up waiting after 10 mins, as I was tired from 11h driving that day. The room really shouldn't have been let out to customers. Dinner was not good. The manager was told us they were full, even though I could see empty tables. I asked what we could do, and he shrugged - they were full. So I asked if he did room service. He said yes. Then I asked if we could eat at the empty table to the side of the bar. He shrugged! So we ate there. Our food was disappointing - an opinion shared by other guests around us too. In contrast, breakfast was superb! Both in terms of the variety and quality of the food on offer.

As we've already answered twice on 2 other websites, we are pleased to read that you found the hotel easy to access, that your check-in experience was smooth and friendly, and that you appreciated the size, renovation, and comfort of our Prestige rooms, as well as the quality of our breakfast. However, we sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you encountered during your stay. The unpleasant smell in one of the rooms is clearly unacceptable, the carpet was recently changed and maybe the glue smell is still here. Please accept our apologies for the lack of availability at reception later in the evening, which prevented us from addressing the issue immediately after your long day of travel. This point has been reviewed internally to ensure better evening coverage. We are also very sorry to hear about your disappointing dinner experience. We had a lot of clients on this evening and unfortunately we had to stop the reservations at one time in order to maintain our quality of service. Your comments have been shared with our restaurant management team so that corrective actions can be taken, both in terms of service attitude and food quality. We hope you will give us the opportunity to welcome you again in the future, so we can provide you with the level of service and comfort you are entitled to expect as a loyal Accor guest and fully restore your confidence.

Shabby, no hot water

Shabby room. Much less nice than the average Ibis, whereas Mercure is supposed to be a cut above. The night we were staying there, there wad no hot water. The next morning, still no hot water. When we inquired st the desk, they said we'd have to wait until 8:30 to have hot water----no apologies, as if it were the most normal thing in the world! When we checked out, they simply said goodbye---again no apologies, no offer of a discount on the room.

We thank you for your feedback but did not understand the "Shabby room"... We refurbished the hotel in 2019, some rooms have already some tiny defects but are not "shabby"... Concerning the hot water, indeed we had a failure on Monday night. We were on the phone with the dedicated company until 10pm but couldn't solve the problem. A technical man arrived on Tuesday morning at 7:30 am and the problem was solved at about 8:15. We apologise for this breakdown which was beyond our controle. Of course we apologise towards our client, we were very annoyed by this. We hope to welcome you again in order to regain your trust. Celine, adjointe de direction

Quick stopover on the way to Italy. Way better than expected - clean, comfortable room, big double bed, excellent lighting, excellent bathroom, quiet even though convenient for the A40 motorway. Big breakfast spread - better than many much more expensive places. Plenty of parking and it's free.

Just one word, bad. Room wasn’t done properly, restaurant was dirty and food really bad. Staff was more or less ok but no flexibility whatsoever. There was no ice available, half of the menu wasn’t available and the toilets linked to the bar were dirty.
