Mixed Experience at Rixos Dubrovnik: Great Food, View and Location, But Room for Improvement

Our stay at Rixos Premium Dubrovnik started on a disappointing note. Despite emailing ahead to request an airport shuttle service with a baby seat, we arrived to find no one there to pick us up. Traveling with a baby, this was particularly frustrating. The hotel did attempt to rectify the situation by offering a free shuttle back to the airport at the end of our stay, which we appreciated. Upon entering our room, we were further let down. The overall appearance was underwhelming and not up to the five-star standard we expected. The The balcony had wire as a barrier, which was aesthetically unappealing, along with dead plants in the flowerbed—certainly not what we expected, but the view was a 10 out of 10, absolutely stunning. Basic amenities like teaspoons were missing, and despite requesting a baby potty via email (which was confirmed), it was not provided. A particularly distressing incident occurred when the spa bath made a loud noise at midnight, waking us all up and continuing for half an hour—an unwelcome disruption, especially with a baby. Additionally, there was a pervasive bad smell throughout the hotel, which detracted from our overall experience. On the positive side, the food was amazing. We enjoyed incredible service at the pool and cabanas, and the lunch and dinner services were outstanding. However, the breakfast staff were not as helpful, which was a notable inconsistency in service quality. The hotel's location was perfect, being close to town and easily accessible, which made our outings convenient. We also tried to watch a rugby game, being South Africans, but at halftime, we had to go watch in our room on our cellphone because there wasn't a TV in the resort that could assist us with watching the rest of the game. We understand that the Euro was on, but if there had been other TVs, it would have greatly enhanced our experience as it was a significant game in our culture. Additionally, at the start of the game, there was no one in the bar to actually turn it on, so we missed the anthem and the beginning, which is very important to us. Overall, while there were several notable positives, the negative aspects significantly impacted our stay.

Superb 5* hotel with fabulous sea views.

We stayed here for a week in June and had an amazing holiday. The hotel is of an excellent standard and definitely worthy of its 5*. It is decorated modern throughout, immaculately clean and staff cannot do enough for you. We had a sea view room which was spacious with a large terrace to enjoy the wonderful view. Breakfast was beautiful with a wide selection of high quality food as well as the option of a glass of Cava (or 2!). There was some outdoor seating at breakfast and a pianist playing music every morning. We ate at the fish restaurant on our first evening which was lovely sitting right next to the sea. We booked the 2 hour Tuk Tuk tour through concierge which we really enjoyed. The driver was very knowledgable/friendly and we saw some impressive panoramic views of Dubrovnik old town. The hotel is about 20mins walk out of the main city and there is a bit of an incline coming back up, however there are plenty of taxis and a bus service if needed. We did also feel that the drinks and food were a little on the expensive side. Aside from this, we would happily recommend the hotel as it is quality throughout.

Great honeymoon

A fantastic honeymoon suite. Service was excellent everywhere. Highlights were couples massage and evening dinner on the terrace. Concierge recommendations were superb. Breakfast with piano music was a great start to every day. Loved the fresh bread assortment.

Beautiful hotel in a fabulous setting.

My husband, our daughter and I stayed for 4 nights here in June. We had two classic rooms on 11th floor, each with a balcony which had a garden view. There were no sea view rooms when we booked or when we checked in, but we got plenty of chances to enjoy the breaking view of the beautiful Adriatic! The breakfast selection was great, so many choices! The only issue was getting a coffee: the servers were very busy and there was no option for self-service at the drink machines. My husband did try to help himself to a coffee but was reprimanded for this! We loved the beach/pool area and the access to the sea for a quick swim. The spa facilities were wonderful too. The rooms were lovely and clean, with the bathroom well stocked with luxury toiletries. We enjoyed the walk from the hotel into the Old Town (about 20 minutes), there are amazing views along the route too. We will definitely stay here again if we revisit Dubrovnik.

Delighted Quality Stay

Just returned from staying in this hotel and can assure anyone looking it's a definite 5 star hotel all the way. We stayed Bed/ Breakfast in a Double room with French Balcony. (Room was only room available at time of booking) Breakfast - Fantastic huge selection - even the full english was good- sadly my wife has become addicted to salmon, scrambled eggs and mushrooms washed down with sparkling wine for breakfast. For the love of God who eats brussel sprouts for Breakfast !! We did eat in the hotel some evenings as they have theme nights and again the quality and quantity is outstanding. Staff -- highly attentive friendly and informative Pool is one depth for the whole length 1.4 (?) and long enough for a good swim; steps lead to the sea if you want a dip. --there was only one lifeguard on duty for both sea & pool so keep an eye on any children. --People were taking drinks into the pool which in my book is a huge no Room was on floor 11 looking to the front of the hotel - non sea view but attracted the sun during the day . spacious and comfortable with all amenities a 5 star should have ( Bigger and more luxurious rooms are available with sea view and Jacuzzi) Cleaning was excellent Disappointed in the quality of some of the pillow's ( 2/4 )in the room and the shower screen is too small so we flooded the bathroom after each shower (sorry) There is a shaver point but it's slightly hidden and the mirror in our room was not steam proof. Air con was one of the best i have ever used across the whole hotel. Entertainment was slightly limited with a great piano [player in the Cafe bar and local singer/musician on terrace. Location is close - about 15 minutes to the old town with bars along the route. There are frequent buses if required . Hotel is cash free and while can be considered expensive please remember it's a 5 Star hotel and not massively more expensive than bars/ restaurants outside. In all i would recommend and revisit the hotel and any less appreciative points made have been made in the light of the overall excellent quality of the hotel.
