We arrived late but the main door is key coded, and our rooms were ready with keys in, this hotel is just off the main drag and there's a maccies and q'malo just over the way. Clean and comfortable beds

My wife and I used this hotel for 1 night in August to break the journey from Cherbourg to Finistere, after walking the dog in Valognes. The room was not immense but clean, comfortable and quiet in a fairly modern building.The hotel was within easy reach of the main road through Saint Brieuc, next to a petrol station and supermarket, and near beaches where we could give our dog a game of football. The evening meal was from a very reasonably priced menu and of good quality. The breakfast was excellent value, with a large choice, including bacon, scrambled eggs and sausages. The manageress was delightfully helpful and welcoming. We managed to lock ourselves out of our room just after arrival and she immediately rushed up the stairs to rescue our key. When I started to carry the dog's crate downstairs in the morning one of the cleaners insisted on leaving her work and helping me. Our bill for a double room, evening meal with pichet wine and a couple of aperitifs, and substantial breakfasts was 143 euros - for the good quality of accommodation, food and service this was good value

Very nice, quite spacious, clean room. King size, comfortable bed! Soundproofing was very good and it was quite. Also, there was a kettle with some coffee and tea. The shower was very nice and in good size! Moreover, there is on site free parking! However, lack of toiletries and hand soap. We were there for 5 days and despite having the containers for hand soap and for toiletries they where never filled. Also tea and coffee with kettle was great but could have left some uht milk as is custom when having these facilities in the room.

Nice rooms but don't trust wet room or booking requests.

I made a booking via booking.com for 4 people to stay for 2 nights during June 2017 - 1 person staying in a double room and 3 people staying in a "family room". All of us being male. The hotel gave the option through the booking process to specify the layout of the "family room" - one of the choices being 1 double bed and 2 single beds, this was chosen. Upon arriving at the hotel and checking in, we found that both rooms were family rooms however the booking request for the layout had been ignored. This resulted in 2 men having to share a double bed. The occupants of this room also reported that it was extremely hot at night even with windows open and no heating turned on. The family rooms are also equipped with wet rooms - these are not to be trusted. On the final evening 1 of the party had a shower (with the wet room door shut) however the drain was either blocked or draining very slowly. Before they could do anything to stop it, water ran under the (unsealed) door and flooded half the room. This was at around 2300hrs and there was no help on site - it took 1.5hrs to mop up the water using towels. The Hotel restaurant and bar closes at 10pm sharp - you will also find everything in the local area also closes between 8pm and 10pm so if you want to have a drink with friends and relax this is not the Hotel for you. Breakfast was ok, costing just over 8 euros and was typically continental. It was nothing to write home about.

If you are travelling to France please take a break at the Holiday Inn Design Resto Novo in St-Brieuc. The hospitality is beyond 3 stars, TRUELY. The management and staff are absolutely fantastic, the treatment is beyond what you would expect from a 3 star service, beds are changed every day, fresh and clean. I would definitely go back again just to see ALL staff. Loved every minute and every day. Paul & Fiona xx
