Incredible Staff make our visit memorable!

I don’t usually write reviews. However, our weekend in Chicago has been special from the moment we walked in the doors at this hotel. I’m traveling with my 9-year old son having a boys trip to celebrate my birthday. We choose 21C because it looked fun. And it is! But what has truly made the visit special has been good old fashioned customer service. Every time we have re-entered the hotel, we have been warmly greeted by Jose’. He always makes a fuss over my son and asks him about our day! Lots of Cubs dialogue as you can imagine. On our way out he takes time to chat with us and makes recommendations. When on the museum tour, he was thoughtful enough to grab a small souvenir and give it to my son. So sweet. Speaking of museum tour, I highly recommend making time to take this tour with Juli the curator. She was informative and entertaining and made the art approachable. It was the first time I have done anything like a museum tour with my son and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. He loved it! I think it helped that he got to take a large green penguin back to our room to keep during our stay. (Ask Juli about this). Thanks to all. It’s nice to see this level of customer service back in hospitality. Much appreciated!!!

This place has amazing service, nowadays you can’t find respectful and kind people. Although 21 c was not the case their workers were very helpful for tourists, if you ever need help ask jose, he is a very nice and helpful person. He gave food recommendations and directions!!!

Meh. Feels like it had a rough pandemic period

I've been a fan of the 21C brand for a long time. I've stayed at almost every location. This one is a bit tired. Carpets are rough. The outlets and lamps all seemed well used. Linens are good and the use the fancy soap that I do love. From a business travel POV, I've had more issues with ACCOR who took over their rewards program. Hate to judge a hotel on that, but... yea. Breakfast on Mondays is a bit odd. It's just a continental breakfast. Grab and go.

I'm concerned about the condition of your room as the hotel went through a major renovation prior to opening in 2020, and your comments are not what we are used to hearing from our guests. Alright, but won’t be back

Room was clean and as described. There was a surprise $20 night “Urban Experience Fee” added that was not anticipated or appreciated. No fridge in the room, and no ice machine but hotel staff was quick to bring it up (in a plastic bag) on request. Not overly impressed all things considering. Rooms are relatively small, but somewhat expected for a city hotel. I wouldn’t avoid the hotel per se but I won’t be planning a return stay.

No desk or chair is available I'm staying in an apartment for 10 days that doesn't have a desk and chair where I can work with my computer. The location is great; Francisco the front desk staff is very helpful
