Poor and unclean

Stopped for coffee. Asked for flat white and was given cappuccino. When it was replaced with a flat white the cup was unclean. It had a lipstick print on the rim. Returned for a replacement. Third time lucky it was ok. Defiantly not 4.5 star service. Very slow service. It would not happen at McDonald's.

We stayed here a few years back and had a magical time. Was still a great time but the quality of service had dropped substantially. We booked 2 rooms with one having twin beds. This proved a challenging exercise as they had not accommodated our obvious written request. Having to go back and explain/show/interpret the booking. Took some time and energy to get done. The gas fires in the pencil pines room are excellent. Our room overlooking the lodge was good also. I feel the great weather saves this from a very bad experience.

We were very excited to be going back to Cradle Mountain Lodge for a return visit after several years. However we were disappointed. Check in was lack lustre, with instructions like where to have breakfast or meals not discussed. Our Pencil Pine room was much as we’d remembered, a little tired but very comfortable and warm. The bed was comfortable and there were a couple of chair around the gas fire to sit and chat. The bathroom was fairly basic but had a heat lamp which was needed! Daily room refreshing was slow and unsatisfactory. Breakfast was ordinary, with the ‘hot’ meals in the servery only lukewarm warm. We asked for an omelette but were told lonely poached eggs to order. After we’d eaten our lukewarm scrambled egg we were told we could order an omelette! We did this the second morning, and it was freshly prepared, hot and tasty. We were also given one barista coffee which was lovely. Our dinner in the highland restaurant will be another review and another Eason why we were so disappointed for our return visit. The staff were friendly but in my opinion, not well trained, and some struggled with the language. This Lodge is an iconic part of Cradle Mountain, and it was so disappointing that it has slipped so far from its original professionalism.

The natural environment here at Cradle Mountain is spectacular and well worth a visit. The accommodation which are cabins look old from the outside but are comfortable and ours was recently renovated inside. The lodge restaurants are expensive ( $18 / glass of wine) and the food is very average , its basic at best and unedible at worst. Peppers really need to lift their game here. The staff are friendly and helpful. Not that it mattered to us but the rooms dont have any TVs so bring a pack of cards or book.

Arrived to friendly welcome and very helpful arranging supper, a spa session and breakfast. Beautiful wooden building housing reception, restaurant, bistro and Spa. Our lakeside cabin was just that - beautifully furnished with fake fire flowing, books to read in comfortable chairs. Evening meal in the Highland restaurant was one of the best meals we’ve had in Tassie & WA. Staff were really friendly & knowledgeable about the wine choices. Hotel ideally placed for shorter walks and shuttle bus into NP. Weather was perfect for clear views of Cradle Mountain.
