We hope you had a safe journey home and are truly grateful to have had you as our guest. We understand your concern regarding the sandbags on the beach. While we agree they may detract from the natural beauty of the surroundings, we’d like to provide some context. The sandbags have been placed as a preventive measure to combat beach erosion, a natural phenomenon caused by wind and wave energy cycles that typically occur every 3 to 5 years. This process involves the temporary movement of sand between the western and eastern sides of the island. Beach erosion affects approximately 99% of resorts in the Maldives, as well as other coastal areas in neighboring countries. While we cannot stop this natural occurrence, the use of sandbags is one of the safest and most effective ways to protect our shores. We deeply value your feedback and assure you that we are constantly exploring solutions to balance natural preservation with providing an exceptional guest experience.
