Some say the food here is noit good but we find it very good , both breakfast and dinner we had for the night we stayed. Service was fast and responsive. Absolutely the best hotel in town. Just a little thing: please try to find a right pefume for the rooms. The smell is not good.

Based on our stay and discussing with some locals, I believe this Novotel is the best in Antananarivo. The fact that the hotel is a Novotel brand can be a bit misleading - it felt far closer to a full service hotel than a lesser brand like Novotel so they might be selling themselves a bit short. I would be comfortable this hotel being a Pullman for example. The hotel had a very nice top floor bar with a billiards table, impressive common areas for example the atrium with visible elevator banks, an indoor pool with hammam and sauna, and lots of staff in the restaurant during breakfast to provide very good service. The quality of the construction was noticeably better than almost all other Novotels we have stayed at, in fact perhaps it was the absolute best Novotels I have seen. For example the windows were double glazed and separated by at least 20 cm so we could not hear a thing from outside the hotel which anyway is not near the street and feels more like a private compound with security near the entrance before driving a nice tree-lined street up to the hotel main building. The only reason why I cannot give 5/5 to this hotel is that they might be bordering a bit on arrogance (being the best) and trying to squeeze the lemon a bit too much with stinginess particularly with Accor Diamond guests. I am quite sure this kind of hotel in such destination hosts far fewer Diamond guests than a hotel in Europe would. And yet the benefits are slim pickings. When we arrived, there were plenty of suites available online but I was informed we were not getting any upgrade at all. They said suites were in a construction zone so while they are showing up online for sale, the suites were out of service. I protested and they showed us the construction, I said I still prefer a suite near the construction than a small room on the other side of the hotel. They made me sign a waiver that I would not complain about the noise. I did not mind signing. During our entire stay we were not inside the hotel all day every day, but when we were in our room, we did not hear a single thing (day or night) so the potential noise disturbance turned out to be a complete non-issue. Thankfully I ended up getting a suite upgrade because all other Diamond benefits are virtually non-existent. The hotel used to have an executive lounge but they closed it, and they do not offer any alternative to Platinum/Diamond guests (unlike many Novotels which at least provide something) such as happy hour drinks. Here there is nothing at all. And it's not like they don't have the venue available for such - their bar is nice. The welcome drink vouchers are also a pittance because they are limited to non-alcoholic drinks. Once again, a sign of stinginess - unless we are speaking of Saudi Arabia, more than 99% of Novotels include alcoholic drinks for the welcome voucher. Which leaves the breakfast benefit but unlike other hotel chains, breakfast is free only 2/7 days (weekends) with Accor, not every day. So for our stay we had free breakfast 1 day out of 4 which was less than 2% of what we spent in total for our stay. Upon returning to Antananarivo, I might be tempted to try one of the Radissons out of curiosity and I am quite sure the elite benefits there would be better than at Novotel. However the compromise there will be to stay in an inferior hotel (but cheaper) than Novotel. That will be the dilemma for another day.

Very nice business hotel. Room is very spacious with all the amenities. Free fast internet. Suppose it is a quite new hotel. Breakfast offers range of excellent food. Bread selection is great. With a bean to coffee machine, the day starts well. Also breakfast is served at 0600, simply brillant for me. Staff is courteous.

The hotel is ok overall—clean rooms, ok location, and friendly staff. But there are several frustrating issues that really took away from the experience. The pool is out of service with no prior notice anywhere, which feels misleading. One of the elevators doesn’t work properly—people have been getting stuck because the doors don’t open, which is both annoying and concerning. On top of that, the TVs don’t support streaming, and the hotel refuses to allow HDMI access, which makes relaxing with your own content impossible. And surprisingly, there are no sugar-free drinks available anywhere, not even at the bar. It’s a shame, because the basics are solid, but the lack of transparency and flexibility makes it hard to fully recommend.

The Novotel Antananarivo is full of surprises! It is an oasis of comfort amongst the chaos and poverty of Tana. While that, in itself, is uncomfortable, we can only hope that increasing tourism $$ from those visiting the amazing country of Madagascar will lead to some improvements for the local population. Back to the review … the Novotel is modern, the rooms large and the facilities, first class. Service is excellent. And the food well surpassed expectations. The breakfast pastries were one of many highlights. And while sitting at the table/kitchen at the Japanese teppanyaki restaurant felt a little surreal, it was a great experience and delicious meal. It is only a short drive to/from the airport and the hotel-organised car transfers were reliable and comfortable.
