Very Frustrating and Disappointing Experience

Mercury is one of the worse hotels I have stay during my 6 days trip in Jiangxi, spanning from Nanchang, JingDeZheng, Jiujiang, WuYuan and ShangRau. Reasons being : 1.) Hotel front desk staff are very rude, discourteous and lack of customer service. I rated this because when I asked for another room card for my wife, the front desk staff told me a straight no, and I have to go through my local guide to ask for the same. Why? Why treat foreign guests so badly? Isn’t it the hotel interest to serve guests from all over the world? Another bad experience was encountered by my wife when she approached the front desk staff for masking tape to do some wrapping and packing, the answer from the hotel staff was also a “straight no”, but when she sought help from our local guide, she got the masking tape. Why? Hotel management if you read this and want to know who are your staff who have failed tremendously in serving your customers, I will be most glad to share more details. 2.) In room coffee and tea making, I am really puzzled if my room is really being cleaned and serviced prior to we check in, because I can see coffee mate (creamer) and sugar, but there is no coffee provided, I am not sure if the creamer is meant for Chinese tea bags? 3.) Bathroom supply is also pathetic, only shower gels and Shampoo, but not conditioner. Besides that, water pressure in the shower area is also very weak, this is really not a 3 stars hotel should have. 4.) In room disposable sleepers were tainted and dirtied, it gives the feeling that the sleepers were being recycled. 5.) in general, the room is small compared to most local 4 stars hotel, bathroom is very small especially the shower area is fitted with fibre glass walls, letting you feel that you are onboard the plane. 6.) Last but not least, the hair dryer in the bathroom is not working well because it can’t generate hot air to blow dry the hairs, very frustrating indeed.

酒店地理位置很好靠近地铁站,对面是是融创茂商场,很有特色,晚上夜景美丽。酒店后面是九龙湖,一眼看过去心旷神怡,有度假的感觉。酒店服务也很不错,给我安排了湖景房,视野很好,给小姐姐好评,很热情。前台办理速度快,也很简洁,能扫微信和支付宝,办理入住很详尽的介绍了酒店的设施,态度很好。健身房在一楼,健身房干净,卫生保持不错。健身器材也整理的很干净。房间景色超级好。看过去心旷神怡。酒店对面是欧洲小镇,有特色,景色很好,好想去拍个照。早餐厅收拾规范,有领位把我们领到座位上,很详细的给我们介绍餐厅,并给我们推荐南昌特色。酒店旁边有个奥特莱斯,地铁站有免费巴士去那里,三公里左右,打车也很方便。同时融创茂丰富多彩,想买什么东西基本可以满足。里面东西的性价比高,款式也多样。住在文华酒店性价比高,值得推荐,下次还会再来,很舒服。

Although far from the centre of town the Mercure is across the road from the vast Wanda shopping mall, and close to Nanchang's high-speed rail station. I didn't experience other, earlier reviewers' issues with poor English speaking -- in fact, I thought the staff's English abilities were much better than usual, including a truly fluent lady at reception. I did, however, have the odd experience of wondering what hotel I was actually staying at. Due to renovations of some sort, breakfast was next door in the Novotel, and when my laundry came back from housekeeping, it was in bags branded with the Pullman hotel logo from a block away. Breakfast did become something of a hot-button issue with my party, since the hotel was overrun with a large party of schoolchildren on our second day, and the breakfast staff retreated in panic. The quality dropped to kids-food levels and took several days to recover, but I haven't allowed this to detract from my review of the Mercure, because, as I said, this was all happening at the Novotel anyway!

The young men at front desk were courteous and helpful in particular Eric and his colleague tried to help with arranging two cars to the train station early next morning though without much success. Rooms were clean and in excellent condition. Beds were super comfy and clean. Our sleep was great. Wanda Mall and theme park are just across the road. Nice and very affordable place to stay for a night to catch our high speed train at Nanchang West Train Station nearby.

Good hotel with poor service quality

The hotel is of good quality but it missed the most important component of a good hotel - the service quality. The front desk team is hardly speaking basic English. We ordered a room service in the late evening, but the room service was not available. The hotel staff suggested us to contact the Novotel (next door) to get a room service. We finally ordered a room service from the Novotel. We need to settle the food using online payment service and the staff requested us to pay a deposit for borrowing wine glasses, regardless that the front desk staff keeps a copy of my credit card imprint. What an experience of staying in a Mercure Hotel Nanchang.
