Location is ideal! However, the hotel sucks! Housekeeping is poor ++ obviously lazy though being a gentle reminder. We stayed for 5 nights and not expecting this. Bellboy and folks at concierge simply ain’t helpful when lugging cargo bags when the other parent was checking out. Even a little help goes a long way. Room is old and poorly maintained. Old musky smell of damp wood and poor pixelated TV. Generally, your service staff are still on the high horse while your guests are playing catch up.

Comfortable, classy, clean and convenient! .......and the view from the room and restaurant...! Spectacular !!

Upon arriving in Osaka, we checked into the ‘ Swissotel, Nankai ‘, directly atop Namba train station. We picked this hotel based on its iconic Swiss brand and its superbly convenient location. This was the fifth hotel we have tried so far on our trip and by far the most convenient, comfortable and one that boasts the best and most impressive views! The sunset over Osaka from our room’s vantage point was simply spectacular and breathtaking! As with most higher end hotels in the Orient, room size is extremely generous and spacious. Amenities are well appointed, bathroom and shower with ample room to move around. Beds are very comfortable. The only minor downside about the room that could be improved was the TV lacking in Western news, sports and business related channels! A gorgeous, buffet breakfast featuring both Western and Japanese options was included. Enjoying the quality food at a window table with gorgeous vistas was a great start to a morning!! Nearby, shopping and food related attractions are worth a few more bonus rating points! Ha!

We had a good stay here, but with a few tweaks it could have been excellent. I completed the online check in before leaving home, but still had to go through a 20 minute process on arrival, so saved no time there and the staff member wasn’t exactly welcoming or pleased to see us. I booked two rooms on a non smoking floor, but the previous guest had undoubtedly been smoking and the room reeked through our entire stay, despite leaving the window open. The hotel claim to fine guests who smoke in non smoking rooms and the cleaner prior to our arrival would have noticed the smell, so I am disappointed we were assigned this room. We paid for rooms with access to the executive lounge and on a whole it was great, my only gripe would be, their afternoon tea is not traditional afternoon tea, no finger sandwiches, scones with jam & cream, no tea cups, just Nespresso glass coffee cups to drink from etc, maybe I’m just too particular when it comes to customs/traditions, but perhaps title it afternoon snacks? Buffet breakfast and staff were great, friendly and efficient. Lots of food choices to keep anyone happy. Not sure why a twin room costs more than a king size bed, making two smaller beds surely doesn’t warrant higher rates? There is very little storage for clothes, we struggled to find enough space for our clothes and we don’t overpack, but the room was clean and comfortable. The shower/bath was lethal to get in and out of, I’m in my 50’s and hubby held my hand each time, even our daughters in their 20’s commented. Spotlessly clean though, with good amenities. Despite these little niggles I would still love to stay here again.

Best hotel so far in our trip to Japan - family of 5 two parents and 3 adult sized kids (20/18/18yrs old). Two very spacious rooms with a magnificent view from the 29th floor - loved it so much we extended our stay from 2-5 days. Excellent staff, professional and very helpful - hotel has everything you need - proximity to the train station/ subway / shops +++ and 6 restaurants to choose from within the hotel itself. 36th floor bar is fab! Gym, swimming pool, sauna and spa. What more could you need?

It was a nice stay which I will rate it as 4.5 stars. The Swissotel is situated in a fabulous location, easily accessible from Kansai airport through the Nankai line. Ebisu Bashi-Suji And Dontonburi are within walking distance and also there are a few shopping malls within close proximity. The hotel was kind to check us in early and also offered us a late check out which we didn’t need as we were catching a morning flight to Hokkaido. Ou room is on a high floor which allowed us an oversight of the Namba area. As an Accor Gold member, there was a box of chocolates as welcome amenity waiting for us in the room. The only shortfall of the stay was that we weren’t given a room upgrade with hotel citing that they were fully booked. In return, we were offered a ¥2,000 discount off their restaurants. A quick check in the Accor app found the next category room to be available and when queried, the front desk staff explained that he was unable to assign this room as he was concerned about double booking. While I could comprehend the non-upgrade if app reflected no next category room available, it wasnt the case here. I didn’t pursue further as there was no point in doing so but I did felt a tinge of hotel not recognising the member status, especially when it’s a 3 nights stay and not just an overnight one. The room itself while appeared aged, was of a good size and considered well kept. The mattress was the softer kind which is not our preference. Woke up with a sore back after 3 nights sleeping on it. One of the light bulbs was blown so the room was rather dim at night but not a major concern. The hotel has an extensive selection of onsite restaurants but with its location in the Dotonburi area, there isn’t much need for the hotel restaurants as there are too many other choices nearby. We tried Table 36 for dinner which has a great ambience with its food of high quality. To conclude, it’s definitely a good stay but could have been perfect if my Accor status has been duly recognised.
