The Fairmont Orchard is a fabulous resort. The views are simply spectacular. Watching whales breach from a lounge chair on the beach is an experience I won’t soon forget. I find it easy to relax at the Orchard; whether I’m going for a stroll down the beach or listening to the gentle sounds of the surf. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Plenty of on-site options for food, and activities.

Aloha, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the amazing staff at the Fairmont Orchid. My son and I had an amazing 6 night stay. Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely Puy, she was quick and efficient. At check out we had another amazing agent, Tiffany was very helpful in calling transportation services for us. The hotel was absolutely stunning! Our room was clean and the beds/pillows were so comfortable. We dined at all the restaurants and found the staff were pleasant, engaging and very professional. The food was delicious, did not have a bad experience. Wanted to give a shout out to Nania (sorry possible spelling error) at the Orchid Court. She provided us with excellent service every morning. Her lovely smile, and engaging personality makes her a true gem! Crystal at the Hale Kai was also very good, she was charming and efficient. Erwin and MJ the beach/bar servers made our stay truly amazing. We enjoyed chatting with them, they went above and beyond and should be recognized for their service. We enjoyed the ambiance/amenities the hotel offers. The sunsets were truly breathtaking. We cannot wait to return in the very near future. Thank you to everyone who helped us have a wonderful and memorial experience. Kudos to the housekeepers as well who work so hard in keeping the room clean and stocked with coffee, tea and fresh towels every day. Also wanted to give thanks to Sylvia, Michelle and Elizabeth at in-house reservations who assisted me with last minute changes to my booking and for providing my son with a special amenity for his birthday. BUYER BEWARE of CONCIERGE SERVICES PRICING

Fairmont Orchid Hotel’s Concierge Office is run by Blue Hawaiian Activities. The good part was the concierge staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable. However, BUYER BEWARE of Blue Hawaiian Concierge pricing and lack of transparency in their fees. For a 5 minute phone call, the concierge staff member booked my family for a volcano and manta ray tour and charged about a 25% fee or $300 when the fee should have been about 4% or approx. $35. When I initiated a formal complaint regarding this price gouging, they apologized and rectified the situation by refunding us our money and offering us a free activity. Though the free activity was appreciated, it doesn't negate their lack of transparency and the price gouging had they not been called out about it. Hopefully, this review helps others to ask for upfront pricing and fees before booking activities using the Blue Hawaiian Concierge office at the Fairmont Orchid Hotel on the Big Island.

Beautiful grounds, lovely hotel , but rooms in need of an update.

Overall this was a disappointing stay. We stayed 2 years ago and while they have done a superficial refresh since then it really needs to be completely redone. My first impression was walking into the hallway where doors are beaten up, there are chunks out of trim, wallpaper is ripped and coming apart and there is a constant musty smell. I entered my room and the door stuck, corners and baseboards were not clean, hair in shower and in many corners in room/bathroom, shower had mold, toilet seat kept slipping, fridge made noises all night long, sheets so thin you can see mattress through them. Also, I asked housekeeping to change my sheets one morning when they came in and imagine my surprise when I found my socks in the bottom of the sheets that same night (I had kicked off the night before). So, obviously not changed. They need some retraining and customer service on the housekeeping side. My room was "garden view" and my view was just of a golf course..no garden. In all fairness, had I come into a clean room with a slightly better view I would have felt differently about my stay. Now the good...The grounds are beautiful and I really enjoyed my time when I was outside my room. Service at the pool was good, you don't have to rush down for chairs, and the pool is large with an adults only end. I want to love this hotel b/c the location is good, I like the feel of it meaning it's low key but still nice, doesn't feel overly crowded etc. If I ever do return I will upgrade my room at the very least.

Comfortable Luxury

This hotel is the most comfortable with just the right mix of luxury and informal. The staff is wonderful - Casius kept our room sparkling which makes such a difference and nothing was too much trouble. The whole hotel is kept beautifully. Swimming in the little bay was delicious and the view from our balcony was incredible.
