My wife and myself were to see Mamma Mia at HMT for her birthday and we booked the Mercure Caledonian for an overnight stay.Warm welcome at reception on checking in and we were delighted that room was available at 1.00 p.m. Room was really comfortable....nice and warm, really clean.We both slept well at night.Before going to HMT we had a drink in the bistro.Again really welcoming. Staff were really friendly.Breakfast next morning was an absolute treat.Super selection.The two staff from the Bistro were on duty again.The gentleman again was spot on...great customer service.Really enjoyable stay.

Recently stayed one night when passing through Aberdeen. The location of the hotel is ideal, right in the town centre. All the staff I encountered were great. The hotel is an old building and the room I was in was very basic but perfectly adequate. Everything was spotlessly clean. The shower head could not be tightened sufficiency on the bar, so when you turned the shower on the head flipped up spraying water everywhere, so the pressure had to be kept low when showering. Not a massive problem, just a bit annoying. All in all a nice hotel with great staff and I’d stay again no problem.

Great Location with comfortable room, but poor breakfast.

Hotel is in an ideal location in the heart of Aberdeen, close to Bus and Railway stations and the busy Union Street. We asked for a room at the back of the hotel to ensure no night noise from the surrounding clubs which was easily arranged. The room was very clean and had all we wanted for our 1 night stay. Hotel bar was well stocked with a variety of drinks and very attentive barman. Breakfast was disappointing. We were advised as the hotel was quiet, breakfast would be table serviced with it being cooked fresh i.e. no buffet for hot meals. Order made, food arrived missing some items (Tomatoes) not a big issue, however, the sausages, Black pudding and bacon was cold and tough. Server was surprised to hear my comment, but in "my opinion" these items were not cooked fresh and had been sitting under a heat lamp without much heat for a period of time. Take away the disappointing Breakfast experience, the stay would be fair value money.

A mix bag of feedback. Good price staff friendly. Room freezing stairs way carpet worn . Christmas decor and decor satisfactory, reasonable breakfast nice .lady in bar very friendly maintenance guy seemed to over see over cooked breakfast. But hey close to theatre and ok for price.

This hotel is definitely not a 4 star,only thing going for it is it's location,room needs upgraded,chairs worn,beds were on castors which moved when you sat on them,not good if you have children,yea bedding was clean.As for the staff ,Not impressed at all,Bar person totally ignored us when we approached,no welcome or hello,then decided to say won't be a minute and went away,only 2 others were in the place,The only member of staff that greeted us was at Breakfast,very polite and attentive,so Katrina deserves the mention, the rest of the hotel definitely needs a revamp,carpets worn, seating needs renewed and lift needs a good clean,won't be back
