Terrible expensive evening.

We had our work Christmas Dinner here, a very disappointing experience. The place was very crowded and noisy, incorporating other Companies, packed in tightly. Meal was okay, but very meagre portions. There was a disco after the meal, but this was ruined by grumpy looking security guards wandering around the whole evening. One of my work colleagues was accused of having a hip flask, she certainly didn't and doesn't even own one? This may have been a case of mistaken identity, as she was also refused drinks at the bar, for no apparent reason. People were drinking and trying to enjoy the party, but she had done nothing wrong, and certainly wasn't too drunk to serve. This resulted in many of us leaving early, I certainly would not recommend this Hotel, as staff are very unreasonable. An expensive meal ruined by them.

Nice staff, mediocre food

Went for a Christmas party. Was very excited about food, but when our Christmas dinner came out it was borderline inedible. Everything was massively undercooked, apart from the sprouts which were overboiled and somehow stringy and spongey at the same time. The roast potatoes looked like they had only been lightly boiled, the stuffing was white, with no crispiness whatsoever, the meat was pale, the pigs in blankets limp. On the plus side, the staff were very friendly.

The hotel is very convenient for shopping and dining in Exeter, it is directly opposite Exeter Central Station. Very comfortable bed and rooms are clean. Good value if you book early although the cost of breakfast is pricey. The only comment on the room is the light switch turns on the main light and bedside lamps at the same time, and the main light is very bright. Would be better if you could switch them on separately. And the bathroom fan continues for a very long time after the light switch has been turned off. Otherwise a good stay!

I stayed at the Rougemont recently with work colleagues as part of a function. The highlight of my stay was Elaine on the night shift's customer service- she was so patient and resourceful with handling all or issues and queries and I cannot thank her enough for the help she gave me personally! First class service

Very very disappointing . Although the hotel is in a good location , I wish I had explored other options . The reception , bar and restaurant was intolerably cold . I mentioned it on both evenings I stayed , the reply was “we are cold too”, no explanation nor apology . The restaurant staff are stretched too far in terms of what they are expected to do and results in being resigned to underachieving . We asked for a drink only to be told by the bar person that she was busy and would serve us when they were free , on the second night a similar response , “I’m busy “. They appeared to be performing basic tasks with no care, no concern and no training . The food is edible but not hot , not exciting and only almost serves what it says on the menu, but badly . In contrast to the public rooms the bedrooms were warm, clean and comfortable. Sorry but it’s not good enough and I don’t need to stay again .
