This is my 5th stay in this hotel, within the last 4 years. Love the location, the cleanliness the calmness. unbeatable. unfortunately the last 2 times we went the service has gone downhill. so i had my booking in accor plus, and when i called the reception a month prior my arrival i was told that my room type wasn’t lakeviews(maybe partial), the girl then she said she can book from there on her end, and make a note for a lakefront room. it was our wedding anniversary. so i specifically said i would want an upstair room, with lakeviews. i canceled my online booking and she booked from her end and i paid for it. upon arriving , the lady who checked in (names sophie) told me the room was a ground floor but lakefront) and i said that i specifically said an upstair room and the last thing i wanted was a ground floor since we are a couple. she then said the booking had no notes, and said there were no other rooms, it was fully booked etc. she then said do you remember who you spoke to etc i said i didn’t then she checked the booking and said she was the one who made my booking and she forgot to make a note on my booking,apologised and said she couldn’t do anything. we were too late to come back to Melbourne and stay else where, i was so so disappointed after all that effort they did not note down my request made a month ago. we checked in there was no effort taken to correct the error. we stayed the 2 nights and checked out. upon checkout i had some dinner bill on my bond, that amount was deducted up to this date no invoice. this is definitely not what you expect when you have planned an anniversary weekend like 4 months in advance. there are plenty of hotels to stay in melbourne yet we travel 4 hours to get there expecting alot more. such as helping a small community, wineries, and us to have something in return. i should say the food is great. staff is okay.. most are lovely. the reception service could definitely improve.

We stayed here as part of a large tour group and were most impressed with the staff, room and amenities. We had a ground floor room overlooking the lake and it had all the facilities we needed. Being part of a large group, we did not eat in the main restaurant but in a separate function room, so I can’t comment on the food itself, but the menu offered a great choice of meals. Certainly on the list for a future visit.

Very modern interesting architecture with use of natural materials. Interesting position on Lake Mulwala. Rooms are a good size, comfortable bed, lovely rain shower. Hotel was very busy during our stay so no upgrade and no late checkout available. Parking is not ideal, no direct access from parking area to room and drop off area is quite a walk away with luggage etc. Restaurant had a good range of meals and drinks were reasonable prices.

Dissapointed.

A disappointing experience overall. Just finding reception was a chore in itself. Better/bigger signage would be appreciated. A small sign next to what looks like a wall but is actually a sliding door isn't helpful. The room was pretty good and despite the wind the outlook to the lake was soothing. Unfortunately the chairs provided outdoor were extremely dirty. I can understand if this was fresh bird dropping but these were ingrained into the fabric and the chairs looked as if they hadn't seen a cloth in months. Most disappointing for my wife was the lack of a decent coffee machine. We have paid half of what we paid here for accommodation in other places and a coffee pod machine was always provided, with plenty of pods. Small things like that elevate the user experience. Ate at the Stock & Barrel and the food was bland, tasteless. Unfortunate as I had a recommendation from a local to try it out. Expensive for what it was. Was going to have a $20 Glennfidich 18 year at the end old but decided against it after the disappointment of the meal. We won't be back and I honestly couldn't recommend the Sebel to anyone.

My booking was completely stuffed up. Stayed due to an industry conference. Whoever did my booking was obviously either incompetent or sidetracked when they did it as they got my email and phone wrong so no confirmation sent and nothing discussed when i booked it. i arrived to find out the room rate was $800 a night! What a joke and the staff did not care and would not budge. if i'd refused to pay it they would have charged me for a late cancellation so it was a no win situation. Will never stay there again
