We got an upgrade as our booking was misplaced but the only upgrade was the size of the room. We had a bar fridge which we couldn’t use as it was locked! Never come across this before but apparently it’s a European thing…depends on what rate you pay. Hot water took a long time to come in the shower. Bed was hard. Coffee table leg was broken so unusable. We asked for another doona and pillow which arrived eventually but without covers on either. Hotel is conveniently located right next to a major shopping precinct so lots of eating options.

No Guest Facilities is disappointing

The hotel was well positioned and the room was good . What let it down was the lack of other facilities , the hotel lobby bar is not open Sunday and Monday ( I was there Sunday and Monday ) for some reason which for such a large hotel was strange , no explanation offered . No where at the hotel to get a coffee or tea, no where to get any food . No room service and the mini bar in the room is locked up so can't be used , so not sure why there are mini bar lists in the room. I witnessed a guest check in late in the evening and asked about the bar and room services or restaurant to be told they couldn't get a drink or any food as they were not available today. Overall the hotel is good standard but the basic hotel facilities are not offered as you would expect for such a large hotel chain. When asked about these the staff on reception don't seem to care too much about the lack of customer facilities either.

Rooms are spacious, some what dated and need an update. The bathrooms are very basic. Lobby bar was ok, there was a lovely outside area but it was left full of cigarettes and rubbish wasn’t cleaned for days which really let it down. The corridors smell quite bad, staff were average mostly on their phones didn’t really pay much attention at the bar or on reception. Stay was ok but wouldn’t stay here again.

Attempted to relocate and book me into another hotel without my consent. Avoid this hotel!!!!!!!!!!

Have stayed before. I was due to arrive tomorrow, 21 August. They phoned me on 19 August confirming my booking and arrival. I confirmed this with them. I followed up with an email of arrival time which they acknowledged. The hotel was paid in advance. I received an email on the afternoon from the hotel to say that they had rebooked me with a "Partner" hotel, one I know are not part of the Mercure Group, but what they meant was they had booked me somewhere less convenient, cheaper and a place I had unfortunately stayed at and wouldn't return to They did this without my agreement They also said that they would do it at "no additional cost". Ridiculous!!!!! You clearly can't trust their booking practices. We had a morning train journey and booked for it's close proximity to the station. I won't stay here again and have made that quite lear to them. They have no sense of customer loyalty or trust. R

Good rooms and location but lousy breakfast

+ great location just next to the train station + Modern and clean room, very well equipped, good size +/- staff was ok ish, sometimes very responsive, sometimes absent, depending on the person - breakfast was catastrophic, each day during my 4 days stay; they clearly don't know how to manage the flow of people, other than "do not come at X hour, too crowded". Choice of food was also somewhat limited, especially for a Mercure. The funny part is that they don't check who goes to breakfast so the homeless guys down the street we're also there. Correct the breakfast situation and you will have a great hotel, everything else works pretty nicely.
