Mercure Tbilisi Old Town

We are two girls traveling in Georgia and this was supposed to be our night in Tbilisi and the last hotel to explore more of the old town. Everything seem to be off from the start.. 1. there is no one there to help with a luggage and there are lots of steps or a very steep rump to get to reception. At the reception we were informed that Mercure chain does not provide concierge assistance. So if you are a girl traveling thats a challenge.. also, its just something wrong when there is a lot of men staring you down how you try to navigate your luggage without any help offer. 2. The hotel is located just off the main road. And somehow at this particular place it felt unsafe to exit the hotel, catch a taxi or cross the road. 3. Rooms were lovely and clean and just as described on the website. 4. Staff was reasonably nice. Felt bad for the reception lady as she seemed to be the only one that does all the heavy lifting. 5. The most important point for us was.. so many staring men! I've traveled in Georgia but never felt so uncomfortable and unsafe.. the men (staring you down) were gathered in all of the common areas that made us uncomfortable to relax with a cuppa. With all that... on one hand its a standard Mercure hotel that is clean and reasonable, and on the other hand- the strange vibe there as if we were napping at the Central Station - we've decided to forfeit our night in there and move to the other hotel we've stayed before in Tbilisi. And we were relieved to move out!

We have stayed twice at the Mercure old town Tbilisi. This time, however, we were very disappointed with the room we had been provided. Months before our travel, We had booked the most expensive available room in the hotel, categorised as a privilege room (which we had booked for our last two stays). From our understanding, the room should have a terrace with it. However, when we arrived, we were told that there were privileged rooms on the first floor with the terrace, and there were privileged rooms on the 5th floor, and they cost the same. We were given the rooms available on the 5th floor without the terrace. In addition we were told we could move in the terrace room the next day however the occupant on this room were allowed to prolong their stay . This is unethical. The Accor website should categorise these rooms appropriately and not waste tourists' time and money. We flew from Dubai to have a beautiful terrace, and we were stuck in a room with and AC that was not working properly.

We had a great stay at Mercure Hotel: the hotel room was spacious and we had a little terrace which was great to be able to spend some time outside. The hygiene was well, the restaurant serves delicious and tasty meals, the service great and Tamar one of the employees really took good care of our needs.

I am glad that I stayed in Mercure in Old Town. Much better location for my taste, than Marriott and other business hotel in newer and more glamorous part of town and half the price. Stayed there 4 nights and managed to combine business with pleasure and see a lot of the awesome city of Tbilisi. The service was mostly good, and friendly, with few exceptions related to training of new employees. The room and lobby bar were adequate, nothing super glamorous, but definitely worked for me. It is a good value hotel, with added bonus for location. Would recommend and stay there again, if/when come to Tbilisi, one of my favorite cities in the world!

Hotel is very convenient for the old city. Rooms were very acceptable ( typical Mercure) and clean and comfortable. Food well prepared and varied although no attempt made to keep hot dishes so at breakfast. All staff encountered were pleasant and helpful. The outstanding feature of the hotel is the rooftop bar with magnificent views.
