Worst Breakfast ever - Hotel itself has potential

Positive: Great Location to discover Malaka. Spacious car park. Nice pool with holidy feeling in middle of city. Rooms clean and what you can expect from a good Ibis hotel. Daily cleaning of rooms reliable. Negative: Pool with some maintenance issues. Tiles missing on bottom of pool. Worst breakfast you could imagine. No one really takes care of maintaining the buffet. When something is empty, it remains empty. Butter contanimated with bread crumbles from previous guests. Guests complained about empty jam to staff. In result, staff came back and said they had no more jam. The automatic coffee machines produce only "Cafe Crema" - no espresso, or anything else. But even the only product you can select appears to be "dirty water". Impossible to drink. And even when guests leave the "dirty water" next to the coffee machines when they realizise it is impossible to drink, no one cares about the root cause. The athmosphere in the breakfast restaurant is unpleasant. One day you may be lucky and find croissants, the other day nothing.

Arrive healthy, leave with food poisoning! They actually promised a 1 night refund after lots of inconvenience which I never received. The food was contaminated with flies, I told them 4 times to cover their breakfast food, no one even cared. Food was colder than ice by the way. Their excuse: „it’s not our department. Maybe we should talk to the cook.“ The a/c didn’t work, the filters have never been cleaned. When I told them they actually tried to wash out the filters in my very shower instead of putting a new one in. It was simply disgusting. They left a dirty shower but the ac wouldn’t work anyway. Do at least they provided another suite. This was the worst Accor I’ve stayed in in Malaysia. Avoid! Accor Platinum Elite heading for Diamond this year. Never again this ibis ! I reported these fatal incidents to the corporate offices in Paris as they really don’t care about anything. This won’t get unpunished and unnoticed.

Location is excellent. Walking distance with the main attarctions in the vicinity like Jonker market, The Dutch or Red square as some call it. The staff are as helpful as they can be. I had the feeling that they were a bit understaff. Breakfast experience was not great. Not much of a variety available. But it's manageable. Another good thing is the bed and pillows. Very comfortable. We got connecting rooms with the kids. It was small with the basic amenities but nice in general. Cleanliness is ok. Budget hotel worth having a try.
