Grand Mercure Maha Cipta Medan Angkasa is, on paper, a five-star hotel, and at first glance it does have some positive aspects. The staff is generally friendly, and the building itself could be considered attractive. Unfortunately, the overall experience falls well short of what is expected at this level and price point. One of the most disruptive issues was noise. During breakfast, vacuum cleaning was constantly happening around guests, which felt highly unprofessional and completely inappropriate for a supposed five-star environment. Even worse, after upgrading to an Executive Deluxe room on the 10th floor, we were exposed to construction noise directly above our room for the entire seven-day stay. This was never proactively communicated or compensated. Sound insulation is another major weakness. The windows and doors facing the street are extremely thin, making it feel like you are sleeping right next to a busy, horn-filled traffic circle. Restful sleep is simply not guaranteed here. The most confusing experience happened at night: vacuum cleaning in the corridor around 1:30 AM. When calling the reception to complain, communication was poor, and we were seriously asked whether we would also like our room to be vacuumed at that time. This level of misunderstanding is unacceptable for a hotel positioning itself as premium. On top of that, the hotel—especially the pool area—feels clearly outdated. Whatever justified the five-star rating may have existed 20 years ago, but today the facilities no longer match modern expectations. The entire property would benefit from a major renovation. In summary, the price-to-performance ratio does not work. Expectations for a five-star hotel are not met, neither in comfort nor in operational standards. Friendly staff alone cannot compensate for constant noise, poor soundproofing, outdated facilities, and serious service coordination issues. Two stars for potential, but the execution is far below the promise.

Large and comfortable room. Good facilities. Nice scent Great breakfast experience. Dory sos thai and bubur angkasa are our favourite choice since day 1.

We felt very well looked after from the second we arrived at the Grand Mercure. The staff were very attentive and made sure we were comfortable and happy. We had some drinks while waiting for our room and when our waitress Elisa heard it was our honeymoon she came back with a lovely gift for us. Excellent range of food and drinks on offer and a comfortable stay.
