Some Room for Improvement !!!

Upon arrival, we were led to take the lift to 55" floor where the Reception Lobby is. The Lady Staff in her local costume at Iift entrance is cheerful and helpful to direct us the route to our rooms. We stayed here on 2 separate occasions, Room 3913 on 29 October 2025 and 4008 on 4 November 2025. Both rooms have magnificient views of Guizhou City. It's situated in the valley hemmed by mountains on all sides.. a river flows thru' the city. I wished that the room's windows were cleaner, this hampered my photography session of the views from within the room. Room is cosy with stylish interior design accomplished with sensor touch control for lights and curtains. However the day & night curtains are too long , it dragged on the floor carpet when it closes. Room is well equipped from drinking water to coffee making machine and bathroom amenities. It has separate cubicle for shower and toilet as well as a bathtub under the beautiful chandelier. I do not feel safe to step into the bathtub for a soak as I notice there is no safety bar for me to get in our out of the bathub ! Shower room hot water takes some time to heat up and shower gel could not dispense !l! What a let down I The daily breakfast at 57th floor was outstanding with plenty of asian & western choices plus a selection of local Guizhou specialties. The Staff have good service attitude attentive and helpful Hotel public area is spacious and cosy, nicely set up with marble sculptures, however the need to take lift to 55th floor then change to take the Assigned Room Lifts to our room is indeed a real hustle.!

This was my second stay at this hotel, the prior one having been 7 years ago. I stayed with my spouse for 9 nights. The hotel and service was excellent then and now. To start with the room was great and kept clean and well stocked with spring water and other amenities. The bed was very comfortable and when we asked for extra pillows they arrived quickly. The daily breakfast was outstanding with plenty of western offerings and a wonderful selection of local Guizhou specialties. The staff were attentive to our needs while giving us peace and privacy. They smoothly accommodated a room change, even bringing us 2 items we had left behind accidentally. I will definitely stay again when I’m in Guiyang.

ALL ROOMS ARE SMOKING ROOM!!!

While the location is indeed excellent, being close to various attractions and dining options, my experience with the room conditions and service fell significantly short of expectations, especially considering the 5-star rating of your establishment. Unfortunately, all rooms in your hotel appear to be designated as smoking rooms, contrary to what was advertised or expected. During my stay, I observed that other guests were smoking in their rooms despite the presence of warning signs. Additionally, I witnessed this issue personally, and the cleaning staff confirmed that smoking in the rooms was a common occurrence. As a result, the air conditioning system circulated the unpleasant smell of smoke throughout the hotel. Despite reporting this issue multiple times to the management, the responses provided were inadequate. I was offered to change rooms, but this did not resolve the issue as the smoke odor persisted, I checked couple other rooms, they all small like cigarettes . Additionally, the provision of extra fans and an air purifier did not mitigate the problem. Also the manager admitted they are hard to control other guests to stop smoking (which is a joke!) I believe that a 5-star hotel should uphold a higher standard of service and enforce a smoke-free environment to ensure guest comfort. Unfortunately, the current practices do not reflect the high standards one would expect from a hotel of this caliber. Additionally, upon my check in. I was with my family waited for good 5mins, standing in front of the check in dest awkwardly with 2 staff seems has nothing to do but look at their computer. This was absolutely out of standard and respect. Sofitel guiyang, i shall certainly not coming back or recommend to any of my friends or family !
