A pleasant stay but missing a few details

Comfortable room and bed with most of the amenities you’d expect. Poolside relaxation recommended. Most staff very friendly. Breakfast is a feast of sugary food. Dinner steaks overcooked. Unfortunately they have a policy against money exchange.

OK

The room was ok. It had a kettle, tea, and coffee, which is unusual for South America, but much appreciated. The shower took ages to warm up, so if you're travelling with someone and you like hot showers, have them go first. The aircon was a challenge. It kept resetting to 25, which is way too hot. Staff weren't particularly attentive. At dinner, they walked past us 17 times (after we started counting) before we received menus. Breakfast has too many sweet options and not enough savoury.

Pleasant enough but not 5 star

Useful stuff to start: Toiletries - bathroom has a shower with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided in large bottles. Taxi/Uber - reception can sort a taxi, both times it took only 1-2 mins to arrive. Cost was about 6-7000 pesos to get into town. Plenty of taxis in town to approach for the return. Uber claimed to work on the app, but never had anyone available. We stayed for 2 nights so we had time to visit the falls from both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides. For a 5 star hotel, it needs to up its game. There were a few issues; the towels in the bathroom were very thin, cheap and at least one had a big tear in it. There’s a sign explaining that due to the iron content in the soil, white fabrics can be permanently stained asking you to be careful with the towels, so it suggests they deliberately use cheaper towels that have seen their best. Not good enough if you claim to be 5 star in my opinion. The minibar prices were quite high, and since you are in the jungle, remember to buy water in the town. Air con is good, facilities in the room are ok. Again for a 5 star hotel, I expect a plug socket on both sides on the bed. Food - we only had a quick lunch at the pool bar, ate out in Puerto Iguazu. We don’t eat breakfast, and having been bothered by flies a lot in the reception, and reading other reviews about it, I’m not sure we missed out. The lunch at the pool bar was similarly overpriced and not great. Service was also fairly grumpy, we left a lot of the food. The menu didn’t match the menu shown on the QR code in the room, not a big problem, but again details should matter for 5 star hotels. Finally, the staff member checking us in, spoke only very little English. Yes, I’m in Argentina and should speak better Spanish, but it’s also an incredibly touristy location. Forgot to give us our credit card back, forgot to give us any details on WiFi. Very polite, but didn’t seem all that up to speed.

Good Food, great service

We came here for Dinner. Their restaurant jakayu - was very good. They had a lot of options for vegetarians. Their mains were good - we tried the veg milanesa which was different but good, the pacu was very good. Service was very good - especially Gabriel, who was excellent and very helpful. Ambiance was nice - you get to see fish in the floors. Restaurant is inside the hotel - so not very cosy, more like a professional business setting.

An ok stay considering there aren't many reasonable options.

Whilst the rooms were on the whole clean, they were dark. When you've got a lot of natural light being blocked out by the surrounding vegetation, the décor should be brighter and lighter. The biggest issue was the breakfast buffet. The staff were attentive (with Natalia being incredible - give her a pay rise!), but there are flies all over the food. Nothing is covered. It's really unhygienic. I'm not suggesting that each bowl or plate is covered, but they should keep the food in a temperature-controlled room which the guests could go into to get their food and then eat out in the main dining area (which needs proper A/C). This would totally stop the flies getting to the food. Usually the bread and pastries we stale due to the heat and humidity. A hotel in Sri Lanka that I stayed at did this in a fully glass structure and it was a great, stylish way to stop food going stale or spoiling and keep insects at bay.
